At first glance this rustic kitchen looks so authentic, one would think it was constructed 100 years ago. Situated in the Rocky Mountains, this second home is the gathering place for family ski vacations and is the definition of luxury among the beautiful yet rough terrain. This beautiful home is located in West Vancouver BC. This family came to SGDI in the very early stages of design. They had architectural plans for their home, but needed a full interior package to turn constructions drawings into a beautiful liveable home. Boasting fantastic views of the water, this home has a chef’s kitchen equipped with a Wolf/Sub-Zero appliance package and a massive island with comfortable seating for 5. No detail was overlooked in this home. The master ensuite is a huge retreat with marble throughout, steam shower, and raised soaker tub overlooking the water with an adjacent 2 way fireplace to the mater bedroom. Frame-less glass was used as much as possible throughout the home to ensure views were not hindered. The basement boasts a large custom temperature controlled 150sft wine room. After a first-floor renovation of a home for a couple with four grown children, the new kitchen features high-tech appliances purchased through Royal Green and a custom island with a connected table to seat family, friends, and cooking spectators. An old dining room was eliminated, and the whole area was transformed into one open, L-shaped space with a bar and family room. “They wanted to expand the kitchen and have more of an entertaining room for their family gatherings,” says designer Danielle Florie. She designed the kitchen so that two or three people can work at the same time, with a full sink in the island that’s big enough for cleaning vegetables or washing pots and pans. Key Features: Well-Stocked Bar: The bar area adjacent to the kitchen doubles as a coffee center. Topped with a leathered brown marble, the bar houses the coffee maker as well as a wine refrigerator, beverage fridge, and built-in ice maker. Upholstered swivel chairs encourage people to gather and stay awhile. Finishing Touches: Counters around the kitchen and the island are covered with a Cambria quartz that has the light, airy look the homeowners wanted and resists stains and scratches. A geometric marble tile backsplash is an eye-catching decorative element. Into the Wood: The larger table in the kitchen was handmade for the family and matches the island base. Complete transformation of an outdated early 90's oak kitchen to an elegant and sofisticated transitional kitchen. cabinets are 99" tall with a 3 piece crown molding to the ceiling. So many accessories...including: roll out shelving, custom cutlery inserts, custom tray dividers, pull out spice racks, pots and pans drawers, swing out corner shelving and knife inserts. Gemini Design Group was able to transform this space by taking out a closet and turning the island. By moving the range to the exterior wall, we creating a fantastic and functional flow. It is now a cook's kitchen with plenty of room for this busy family.

However, going for raised or recessed panel work in a striking colour such as dark blue, green or black can still work with contemporary kitchen ideas.
