Forward Design Build Remodel
When our clients purchased this home, their main focus was updating both the primary and guest bathrooms while adjusting the layout to be more functional on the second floor.
They also wanted to make some other improvements to include adding a runner to the staircase for increased safety and refinishing all of the floors in the home.
We brought some new life to the powder room on the first floor with a fun wallpaper and a sink that has an integral backsplash. Upstairs we made the layouts much more functional by making a few slight changes that had a very large impact.

Well-traveled. Relaxed. Timeless.
Our well-traveled clients were soon-to-be empty nesters when they approached us for help reimagining their Presidio Heights home. The expansive Spanish-Revival residence originally constructed in 1908 had been substantially renovated 8 year prior, but needed some adaptations to better suit the needs of a family with three college-bound teens. We evolved the space to be a bright, relaxed reflection of the family’s time together, revising the function and layout of the ground-floor rooms and filling them with casual, comfortable furnishings and artifacts collected abroad.
One of the key changes we made to the space plan was to eliminate the formal dining room and transform an area off the kitchen into a casual gathering spot for our clients and their children. The expandable table and coffee/wine bar means the room can handle large dinner parties and small study sessions with similar ease. The family room was relocated from a lower level to be more central part of the main floor, encouraging more quality family time, and freeing up space for a spacious home gym.
In the living room, lounge-worthy upholstery grounds the space, encouraging a relaxed and effortless West Coast vibe. Exposed wood beams recall the original Spanish-influence, but feel updated and fresh in a light wood stain. Throughout the entry and main floor, found artifacts punctate the softer textures — ceramics from New Mexico, religious sculpture from Asia and a quirky wall-mounted phone that belonged to our client’s grandmother.

Exotic tiger print is continued up the stairs in the entry way of this home creating a show stopping and daring look. With the shadow box detailed walls and the railing spindles remaining white, all attention is brought to the stairs as the main focal point of this space.

Inns & Hotels Check In: A Favorita Porto, Portugal Designed by French designer Sam Baron, the seven-room A Favorita inhabits an old Portuguese house and draws on local inspiration for an old-meets-new aesthetic that feels really fresh. It’s simple without feeling the least bit spare, and the decor–a subdued mix of vintage and modern furnishings–is effortlessly stylish in that come-easy, laid-back European way. But that doesn’t mean details aren’t attended to: a white medallion hangs above a bed; perfectly placed pottery; dangling dried branches; and vibrant linen throw tossed over a wicker love seat. The just-right white walls show-off some really cool, non-obtrusive site-specific art, like a series of ethereal tableware-like ceramics blossoming from the wall and little penciled murals at table-height in the bite-sized restaurant.
Century Stair Company
Century Stair met the architect's expectations by fabricating and installing a staircase that matched his aesthetic standards and high-end finishes; the clean and crisp zig-zag stringers were created by joining together modules of thick oak risers and nose less oak treads (fixed to the side walls with concealed joinery). A geometrical carpet selected by the owner, with subtle patterns and tones, makes this exquisitely proportioned stair work with the metal balustrade system and the home's elegant and eclectic interior design. Century Stair's artistic and technological achievements are proudly presented with this residential project. CSC © 1976-2020 Century Stair Company. All rights reserved.
Unique Dwelling
The slope of the land made this a fun project to design. To break up the long staircase to the front door we put some landings in there and added a different shape to it. Lighting and landscaping help to also soften the staircase.

Our firm was hired while the property was in the very beginning of the construction phase. Clients requested a design concept inspired in the Art Deco Style, Modern Accents and Vivid Colors, specially for their daughter's room.
Family room adjacent to the kitchen is also very functional, fun and colorful for a beautiful family of five to enjoy their daily routine.
