The Landscape ArtistThis unique home on edge of downtown Calgary is a longer term project we had the privilege to design and implement. We were involved early in the extensive renovation process to provide input on design elements and help resolve logistical issues on the site. Among the many elements in the garden a large water feature was desired, in part to help mask traffic noise, as well as numerous areas to entertain, relax, and explore.
Both large and dry-pack Rundlestone was utilized along with stamped concrete for much of the hardscaping. The slope was manipulated to construct the water feature which includes numerous falls, a stream, pond and bio-filter. Stucco walls were constructed on part of the property and river-stone walls were reconstructed to match the existing walls from the previous development. Extensive plantings throughout the grounds highlight and accent the hardscape and were designed for four seasons of interest.
Julie Moir Messervy Design Studio (JMMDS)For a mountaintop home in southern Vermont, JMMDS enlarged an existing pond and simplified its shape, creating a swimming pond with artfully placed stone steps for entering the water at several points along its perimeter. DDLA Design Landscape ArchitectureCompleted in 2003, this garden in Highland Park, Texas featured a dramatic transformation into a wonderful intimate garden. The existing pool was renovated with all new coping and stone veneer and an end portion of the pool was enclosed to create a koi pond with aquatic plants. A glass panel was installed between the pool and koi pond to allow the swimmers to submerge themselves and see into the koi area. The rest of the garden featured lush landscaping which included shade loving plants and mint was planted in between the step stones for a soft feel. Completed with Naud Burnett & Partners.

Table2GardenThis pond provides beautiful sound and is the primary focal point for the living and kitchen areas which look out onto this space and previously just viewed the driveway. The driveway is now a lovely courtyard and the entire area provides opportunities for entertaining.

LandCrafters, LLCAfter extensive interviews with both our clients and their daughter, they needed a reprieve and a way to better connect and enjoy their time as a family. Their daughter wanted a pond with fish. The parents wanted a camp-ground to take the vacations they never could. Finally patio space was needed to enjoy their extended family.
Smalls LandscapingFor the water feature we designed a multi-faceted system to carry the water to different areas. By using a 1” hammer drill, holes were drilled through weathered limestone boulders. Water could then tumble down the boulders from three sides in multiple locations creating a soothing atmosphere as you relax on the patio. An Aqua Ultaviolet Ultima II Bio-Tube filter system was installed. This superior filter allows easy maintenance and high water flow distribution.
flauraA sophisticated couple desired the perfect garden tailored to their sociable lifestyles. Having downsized and relocated to Hampshire following their birds leaving the nest, our clients were beginning an exciting new chapter. What was once an old, derelict barn had been tastefully renovated into a stylish and artistic home. We wanted to extend their interior design aesthetic into the garden, whilst being sympathetic to the landscape and history of the old farm complex.
Accent LandscapesAll natural stone water features we build are built to fit into the landscape and topography. Depending on how much elevation there is to work with in your yard we can create cascading creeks, waterfalls and pools. We are often able to create some elevation through the use of berms and retaining, making this a possibility even in relatively flat areas.
