The quiet relaxation of the master sitting room captures sweeping water views and hides a miniature kitchenette for coffee and refreshments. French doors open to the cascading double-crescent stair of the spa terrace and surrounding parterre gardens, topiary and natural plantings as well as a cutting garden. Woodruff Brown Photography

The inspiration for this room’s design was inspired by the beautiful view found outside the windows. Not wanting to compete with Mother Nature I selected neutral color pallet to blend with the idyllic surroundings. The clean sleek lines of the upholstered furnishings sit in juxtaposition to the natural elements—the woven wood blinds, the driftwood coffee table, the slate and copper wall fountain and other accessories— that are scattered throughout the room. Altogether, the room’s design creates a wonderful area to relax, entertain or simply enjoy the scenery.

The oversized skylight and large windows help bring the outside in. The TV has tough competition for attention in this room.

An extensive covered porch runs the length of the house, but this portion was enclosed, insulated, and finished. Designed for all seasons, this space provides year-round comfort and relaxation.

This panel in the angle of the bay window is hung from a hinged rod and is 1 1/2 widths of fabric wide. By putting the inset contrast band on both sides, it appears as two panels.

The entrance to the sunroom features a few splashes of industrial furniture. Here, you'll see a vintage drawing table with a cast-iron base flanked by four architects' counter stools. We like the table set here because it establishes a different space within the large sunroom. Unlike the lounge area on the other side of the room, this space is intended for socializing over food and drink while soaking up the sun. Plus, the lovely amber glass bowl provides some needed warmth to the relatively dark furniture. Photo by Shea Conner
