The guest suite has an amazing little nook that I turned into a combo laptop area and reading space for children. The wall-mounted desk keeps it roomy while the bright, bold, Timorous Beasties wallcovering makes it both interesting for the children and unexpected for adults staying there.

This beautifully designed 1940’s wooden desk was completely re-styled in a luxurious and artistic fashion. Created for a commission in Gill Wing Interiors store, London. The attention to detail is second to none. The desk’s drawer fronts were BURNT using the Yakisugi technique. Followed with a deep wood-stain treatment and industrial burnt copper handles affixed. The inner part of the drawers were fitted with cork inlays and new file dividers. The desk’s main structure was painted in a rich teal chalk paint and sealed with Danish oil. The desk’s feet are gilded in 24k gold leaf and are sealed for extra protection. The multicoloured ‘Jackson Pollock’ style metallic resin pour tabletop makes this wooden desk a one-of-a-kind statement piece of furniture. Dimensions: W 1400 x D 760 x H 780mm

Having an eclectic home office can seem like the best of both worlds, but it’s important to keep in mind that this should be a productive space that keeps out the many distractions of home. You may not have the luxury of a dedicated room to turn into your eclectic office room or home library, so choose your space wisely to ensure privacy and adequate storage. A carefully designed corner in your living room or an alcove can be made into a productive and stylish study space. Your home office furniture with the desk in the centre of your design, needs to include both work surface space and storage ideas – never underestimate how quickly a computer desk can become cluttered with stationery and box files.
