The IKEA desk I already owned. Placing it towards the centre of the room enhanced the sense of space. The vintage tea chest was bought through Gumtree and acts as a side table, while also giving texture and interest to the room. The waste paper bin is an old tin sugar canister bought for a few dollars from a secondhand market. The cane basket was found on the side of the road and stores ribbons for gift wrapping. The wire basket above it was an inexpensive buy from Target. The clock is IKEA. The IKEA wall shelf above was restyled and the old children's books put in a cupboard elsewhere in the house. Visually this enhances the sense of space in the very small room.

The soft blues ground this hand me down dining furniture, what a great reuse of a formal dining room. Photo: Rikki Snyder

This home office was designed to be fun and inspiring. The room is filled with DIY projects including recycled white end tables, recycled art work and bulletin board using a frame from MOMA. The wall pattern was based on a gigantic pizza box I cut into a circle. See how it was done on my blog under DIY Ideas- www.loveyourroom.blogspot.com. The coffee table is a mid century modern antique, and the sofa and desk are from IKEA.
