Our Miami studio’s designs for the lounge, bar area, and powder room for the Home & Garden 2021 Designer Showhouse feature unique, eclectic pieces from our SORELLA furniture line, MB Home Collection, and louis + rocco home décor styling rental business. The lounge boasts a light, sunlit look with gray accents and an edgy metal pendant. One-of-a-kind highlights include a beautiful MARIA LAURA table from our SORELLA furniture line and a distinct piano bench we designed. Our Seattle studio gave this dated family home a fabulous facelift with bright interiors, stylish furnishings, and thoughtful decor. We kept all the original interior doors but gave them a beautiful coat of paint and fitted stylish matte black hardware to provide them with that extra elegance. Painting the millwork a creamy light grey color created a fun, unique contrast against the white walls. We opened up walls to create a spacious great room, perfect for this family who loves to entertain. We reimagined the existing pantry as a wet bar, currently a hugely popular spot in the home. To create a seamless indoor-outdoor living space, we used NanaWall doors off the kitchen and living room, allowing our clients to have an open atmosphere in their backyard oasis and covered front deck. Heaters were also added to the front porch ensuring they could enjoy it during all seasons. We used durable furnishings throughout the home to accommodate the growing needs of their two small kids and two dogs. Neutral finishes, warm wood tones, and pops of color achieve a light and airy look reminiscent of the coastal appeal of Puget Sound – only a couple of blocks away from this home. We ensured that we delivered a bold, timeless home to our clients, with every detail reflecting their beautiful personalities. --- Project designed by interior design studio Kimberlee Marie Interiors. Our Boulder studio designed this beautiful home in the mountains to reflect the bright, beautiful, natural vibes outside – an excellent way to elevate the senses. We used a double-height, oak-paneled ceiling in the living room to create an expansive feeling. We also placed layers of Moroccan rugs, cozy textures of alpaca, mohair, and shearling by exceptional makers from around the US. In the kitchen and bar area, we went with the classic black and white combination to create a sophisticated ambience. A home bar is one of the ultimate indulgences for a homeowner. By no means essential but all the more satisfying for that very reason. Whether your home bar ideas would be having the boys round to watch the big match in a pub-style atmosphere on a Saturday afternoon, ‘going uptown’ to sip an espresso martini in your home cocktail bar in the loft, or hoping to recreate the vibe of an intimate speakeasy in your basement, a contemporary style home bar is a treat that’s guaranteed to lift your spirits. A place where you are always guaranteed a seat.

How big should my contemporary home bar be?

The ideal style of your contemporary home bar will depend on your lifestyle and entertaining habits as well as the amount of available space. If big groups come round regularly then you should consider dedicating a part of your living room or basement to a larger seating area – complete with a bar table, bar stools and wet bar section – to keep everyone suitably comfortable and merry. If TV is essential, check if there is a wall nearby that’s a big enough to mount it on without restricting anyone’s view. A key feature of home bar ideas is the storage – gleaming wine racks and low-lit glass shelves. Make sure you can afford these little delights after you have built the basic structure. Alternatively, if space is limited, a freestanding contemporary home cocktail bar would give you somewhere to prepare cocktails that is out of the way – in the corner of your dining room or under the stairwell for instance. Do those flowers look out of place or will they help to soften up what’s fast becoming a man cave? Select contemporary furniture that’s comfortable but also sparks interest, such as salvaged chairs or a second-hand leather sofa. Add a touch of glitz and glamour through your choice of glassware, drinks trolley, ice bucket, shaker and spirit bottles if you want the home cocktail bar look. Then scatter a few curios around the bar – contemporary ornaments, lamps, artwork, photos and travel mementos are great contemporary home bar ideas to get the conversation started.
