I am a stickler for perfection and when I design I look at every little detail to the last millimetre in each space. None of this just happens - it takes many hours of planning, drawing, choosing just the right finishes, fabrics and wall paper, and then designing the furniture to fit the space perfectly and in the correct materials and fabrics. I designed this rug and chose the colours of the wool which was hand knotted in Tibet and took 3 months to make and ship to Cape Town. It is always such a delight when we roll out a rug we haven’t seen the end result of and we are so pleased with the way this one turned out. I chose a lovely patterned fabric for the backs of the dining chairs and had the end table chairs made in a double size so that two people can sit at the head if need be. The table is made of solid Oak which is sandblasted to show off the grain and has a light grey wash. The wall paper on the fireplace is very textured and adds depth to the room. The wall paper on the ceiling inside the bulkhead is iridescent and gives the ceiling a lovely glow. Our curtains are beautifully made and adds luxury and warmth. Never skimp on curtaining as badly made curtains can instantly cheapen a room. The light fitting is discreet when switched off so as not to detract from the stunning ocean views when the curtains are open.

Der Stauraum wird in diesem Appartment durch einen individuellen Einbauschrank geschaffen. Genau auf die Bedürfnisse der Nutzer angepasst, ist der Schrank in unsterschiedlichen Tiefen gestaltet. Die Frontgestaltung ist durch die kleinen Versprünge lebendig und wirkt sehr klar und leicht. Ein offenes Regalelement kann mit einem Plisee verschlossen werden und sieht immer bestens aufgeräumt auf. Die vorhandene dunkle Zimmertüre wird durch eine Speziallackierung besonders aufgewertet.

This is the first room you see when entering the home. The beautiful dining room speaks for itself and was a joy to imagine and create. This entire remodel was so rewarding because after designing past homes for the client, I knew their personality and what they really loved in a home. They trusted they would get a fantastic end result and we were all so pleased. There were a few bumps in the road, but considering the pandemic creating supply chain issues and labor shortages, the problems were minimal.

What are the best dining chairs for my table?

If your table hasn’t been sold with matching chairs then you have some extra flexibility to select dining chairs that suit your desired dining room feel. For traditional dining rooms you will want to opt for a full set of high backed formal dining chairs, whether these are upholstered, leather or wood framed. If you are looking for a more informal dining room, then a selection of mismatched chairs in different materials such as moulded plastic and even metal can be a great way to achieve this. For a really relaxed dining experience, you could even opt for a full length bench, which has the additional advantage of saving space as it can be tucked away under the table when not in use.

How should I decorate my contemporary dining room?
