We created a light fixture (based on Lindsay Adelman's You Make It) and had it plated copper to coordinate with the lovely copper chairs. Both metal pieces were not sealed and allow the natural patina and fingerprints to add interesting texture and warmth. The shades were of a natural material and allow light to pass through for an airy feel but diffuse it enough to avoid a harsh glare.

Like all the spaces we design, this room is totally about the people who live in it. True, the room started as a blank empty box, and while this couple likes architectural interest, the low ceiling was a challenge. Our solution was to add a wonderful niche – perfect to correct the uneven window wall AND indulge an architectural craving. Au courante grass cloth wallpaper and a modern rug are the perfect foil for the refreshing furnishings and appointments that span from 19th century to mid-century to modern.

Rich teal paint saturates walls and woodwork alike creating a rich, enveloping atmosphere. The homeowners collection of hand-painted plates are displayed on the walls surrounding the windows. Gorgeous woven fabric reminiscent of tapestry upholsters the vintage dining chairs.

Most think the wall treatment is paper however it is actually a painted mural inspired by a small swatch of antique Fortuny silk fabric that the artists and I needed to imagine perhaps the full repeat could have been. This mural is absolutely one-of-a-kind and finished with a linen texture.
