Transformed and transported this Desert Mid-Century Modern from Palm Springs straight to this North Scottsdale home. Every detail was highly considered, even down to the customer made breeze block to create this on-trend screen wall. Everything is new, all plants, cactus, agave, succulents, plants, and lighting. A very large thank you to our incredible client. We are thankful to have been part of this special project!

The rear facade is comprised of the existing brick shell, with new black window, door, railing, and downspout accents, with a garage door that lets the cellar space open to the yard. The yard is a comprised of a slab for domestic use and a more playful design of pavers, planters and gravel beyond.

Metal trellis structures allow flowering vines to grow provide screening from the garage facade only leaving the windows exposed. Low planting and a Japanese Maple create an opportunity for the homeowners to keep an eye on the kids playing in the front lawn and guests arriving.

A natural stream meanders through the lawn and trees and under the bridge on the driveway. There are fabulous distant views of the countryside that included in our design by framing this view with the trees and position of the stream.

This was a garden space that was a blank slate. All that existed before we conceptualized this garden was water loving turf. BKLD added two outdoor entertaining spaces in this small yard with a colored concrete patio and a crushed rock terrace for an informal fire feature. Umbrella stands were poured into the concrete so that outdoor umbrella's could provide shade and not blow away in this windier corridor of Petaluma. Who's ready for a beverage and some smores?

This project was an LED upgrade and repair to an older, existing outdoor lighting system that was in not working. Many of the lighting wires had been cut and a good many of the fixtures needed to be relocated due to the more mature landscape. The system was cleaned, repaired and the old halogen lamps were replaced with high quality, energy efficient, LED lamps. This fortunate homeowner will now get to enjoy night after night of flawless light around the garden and pool spaces, and not have to worry about changing a bulb on this current system ever again.

The large Pine Tree that we were able to save during construction gives scale to this large two-story house.
