A village council in the Cotswolds commissioned a public garden for local residents to reconnect with nature and grow with the community. Bordering a large woodland, an uncultivated and unloved landscape, overgrown with nettles and brambles, was to be transformed into a multi-sensory garden. Opportunities for learning, a ‘grow your own’ lifestyle, and cross-generation social bonding underpinned our design.

After a tear-down/remodel we were left with a west facing sloped front yard without much privacy from the street, a blank palette as it were. Re purposed concrete was used to create an entrance way and a seating area. Colorful drought tolerant trees and plants were used strategically to screen out unwanted views, and to frame the beauty of the new landscape. This yard is an example of low water, low maintenance without looking like grandmas cactus garden.

?✨ Découvrez les visuels 3D que j'ai conçu pour ce jardin situé à La Chapelle des Fougeretz, au nord de Rennes ? La terrasse repas est encadrée par de la végétation ce qui en fait un espace très agréable. De plus, des banquettes apportent des lieux de détente et d'harmoniser les parties verticales des bacs en piquets de schiste. Un cheminement en poutres paysagères mène vers les différentes parties du jardin, notamment vers l'espace braséro, qui est le point d'intersection entre le terrain de pétanque et l'espace de jeu des enfants. J'ai particulièrement aimé construire ce jardin où la partie ornementale passe en douceur sous la pergola, jusqu'à des zones plus fonctionnelles comme le potager ou encore l'accès au poulailler, qui comporte quelques arbres fruitiers. (Vous noterez que l'abri fait également office de poulailler. ?) Afin que les espaces fonctionnels du jardin soient aussi esthétiques, j'ai veillé à ce qu'ils regorgent de massifs d'ornement. J'ai apprécié pouvoir intégrer une clôture en saule tressé pour encadrer le potager. Il s'agit d'une utilisation du saule qui est à la fois esthétique, écologique et fonctionnelle, correspondant parfaitement à l'ambiance souhaitée pour cet espace. Le bassin au milieu du potager est également un élément important. Il permet l'approvisionnement en eau, l'accueil de la biodiversité et constitue un élément esthétique essentiel de cette zone du jardin.
