We added an open concept kitchen to our mid-century modern remodel. The opening in the wall to the living room is new, and required structural bracing because it's a load bearing wall. We raised the ceiling too. It was eight feet but now slopes up from nine to ten feet. The kitchen has an ocean view and opens to the dining room, front entrance, and backyard. The quartz countertops are a pale gray that sets off the white upper cabinets and dark stained lower cabinets. We've added a splash of color with custom fabric printed pendant lights, a mid-century George Nelson clock and blue glass tile backsplash.
