Tour a Victorian Home Updated for Modern Life
Looking for more of an airy feel in their narrow Victorian house, this couple contacted Michael Parinchy of Probuild360. What followed was a major renovation that saw the home taken down to the bare brick structure. Walls came down, flooring came out, and Michael added a new roof and built a contemporary extension to the rear. The juxtaposition of the old Victorian façade and the modern back is a feeling that extends to the interior, where traditional elements, such as herringbone parquet, contrast beautifully with sleek, contemporary bathrooms and modern home automation features.

Can you share the manufacturer of the beautiful botanical tile used in one of the bathrooms please?
It was so beautiful I cried. Just about perfect! I'm lost for words. All I can think of is can I move in.
Beautiful design!! Simple yet classy. The Black kitchen is very sophisticated. The Black accents throughout catch the eyes as you look around the room. Love the floorplan and color scheme reminds me of my own home. Well done!!!
Beautiful home. I especially love the floors!
OMG that piano bar is the coolest!
Love when charming period homes beautifully merge with contemporary design. Oh and that piano bar, very neat!
Would love to hear more about the decision to choose patio doors rather than bifolding!
You have done a beautiful reno! The exterior retains the classic row house feel in front. The interior mixes new and old nicely. The main bathroom is a bit stark for me, but with some art and colored towels and throw rugs, it would suit me just fine. The green wall in the master bedroom is a great color.
I really liked the way the combination of traditional and modern was used here, which is usually lacking in America but common in Europe. Use of windows and lighting really makes a difference in how open and bright the rooms feel. The entry bench at first seemed like it would be in the way of the traffic flow but then I saw how practical it would be. I was surprised by the radiators in the master which is a very striking statement and I’m wondering if it works rather than placing them horizontally under the window.
It’s beautiful. A really stunning conversion.
I would however love to know how their closest neighbours feel. The pleasing architectural concept of diversity within unity has been discarded and now they are overlooked by an industrial block. I feel the most successful changes keep a sense of cohesion.
Ikr? I think the wood cladding is stunning because it looks like the Japanese Shou Sugi Ban, but I think wood cladding on a Victorian house is just too trendy. After a few years they might be covering the exterior with red brick or even plaster rendering. Plaster is timeless.
Pretty stunning! I would have been interested to see a photo from the front door. Is there space for hanging coats? I especially like the fully automated light/sound/heating system.
For these transformations it would be good to see some ‘before and after’ pics and a floor plan to get a sense of how the space has changed. Looks beautiful though
How do you get building regs for the stairs starting in the kitchen?
Hi amazing extension - where is the cladding from? or any recommendations?
Really beautiful. Its wonderful to see the kitchen looking straight out into the garden
How did you manage to gain building regs approval for a three storey house and not close the kitchen off from smoke and fire by removing the hallway corridor and doors? Thanks
I know Bearwood really well and I can’t believe this is a house there! Amazing, beautiful and inspiring! You did an amazing job there and if I win the lottery I will ensure you make over my home! AMAZING
I love the monkey light on the wall where the console/bookshelf is
Beautiful transformation 👏

Love the high contrast of black & white throughout the property.
Amazing styling throughout and the piano is superb. Millionaire’s house.

Absolutely stunning!
Brilliantly designed
Oven in chimney breast
I'd really love to know what tiles were used in the bathroom with the sloped ceiling - the large format ribbed tiles in particular are so unusual, and work so well with the natural terrazzo-esque floor tiles
Fabulous
Before and after pictures and floor plans please
