Are you English? sometimes a small room can look bigger with all over pattern, say a toile or a floral,,repeat it on the walls, either upholster the walls and use it for drapes, or use the same pattern in a paper as in fabric. It will cozy up the room, and hide any quirks in the architecture. To put a small shade on the window is to draw attention to it and the fact that your bed is offside. Keep the bed it sounds nice. A small room like that wrapped in pattern is a delight I think.

I like the lighter...because you can always add drama by adding an area rug. Both are very fashionable. The very light grays/whites are en vogue right now. Very cutting edge.

And also there is some original tile left and I was toying with the idea of tiling over that strip all the way to the wall to create a small corridor of tile as you come in the front door for the 'hallway' that once was, to add interest and a sense of separation between kitchen and hall because the door opens into the kitchen directly which isn't ideal (we had to do away with a small pocket door and partition wall there.) and then do the rest in marmoleum. Would this look weird or should I just do the marmoleum throughout?

Hi all, Looking for some advice. I'm pretty sure our floorboards are solid wood and whitewashed (they were in situ when we moved in). Over the years they have become worn, discoloured etc, so was wondering if we can get them re whitewashed? Is that possible and would it just be a painter we should ask to do the job. First pic is floorboard in good condition, second with wear and tear and third is where we took away a cabinet so you can see the original colour of floorboard and the colour of the whitewash...Any advice appreciated!
