My house is Georgian, however I have one small single bedroom that has a small window which has to be at the right side of the bed, which is up against the left wall. How can I get the window to look larger and should I keep the old victorian mahogany bed. The walls have been painted Aged Ivory, similar to a Chamois cloth. Mahogany floorboards. I want a cozy classic feel to the room. Any ideas greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your reply. However, there simply isnt enought space to the left of the window to hang a drape. A single drape would be effective at R.H.S from high up and pooled on floor. Any ideas for decorating, colours to enhance the Aged Ivory or contrast with it. Bedding, Fabric colours etc. Again, many thanks.
I would think the only solution there is to curtain the whole wall and make that window disappear, then center the bed on the wall, so the curtain acts as a backdrop/canopy for the bed.
Are you English? sometimes a small room can look bigger with all over pattern, say a toile or a floral,,repeat it on the walls, either upholster the walls and use it for drapes, or use the same pattern in a paper as in fabric. It will cozy up the room, and hide any quirks in the architecture. To put a small shade on the window is to draw attention to it and the fact that your bed is offside. Keep the bed it sounds nice. A small room like that wrapped in pattern is a delight I think.
