I have a white corian and love it. It brightened the kitchen so much. I think the Only thing you can set hot pots on is ceramic tile. I have made trivets out of pretty tiles. Go to the store and find a tile you love buy one or two and then cut felt slides that stick, like for the bottom of a chair leg or buy precut ones. These are great! I use them on lots of things. They are under my coffee pot, toaster, large cutting board, garbage bowl I keep on the counter, anything I move that's kind of big or heavy on the counter. Corian requires no sealing. Only thing that has thought about staining so far was grated carrots, or the skin gratings from carrots. But then I just worked on the spot lightly with a scotch bright pad. I saw somewhere that someone else tried a mr clean eraser n corian. Staining in my integrated white sink is zero. Installed in January 2013. I have had corian in a previous house with no problems also.

Kitchen's suffer from extreme humidity variation, so you should fully adhere the solid or engineered flooring to avoid a bowing/warping floor in a few months time However, here's another viable option; luxury vinyl tiles (LVT). Generally, LVTs are 2.5mm thick, made from 100% pvc (therefore waterproof), come with a thick polyurethane wear layer that normally is backed up with a manufacturers warranty, with a wood or stone effect finish. LVTs are great with underfloor heating and unlike ceramics, they don't break when heavy objects are dropped on them and unlike wooden floors, once laid, LVTs need no further maintenance other than regular vacuuming and washing. LVTs are almost indestructible! There are many options available but us Flooring Gurus recommend going for a recognised brand. The whole idea about an LVT is for it to look authentic. They need to genuinely look like the wood or stone flooring they are mimicking. Cheap alternatives, when installed, look ... well ... awful! Try looking at Polyflor's Colonia and Camaro. I am not set on the countertop color but I am open to ideas. Do you prefer quartz, marble, granite, etc? Thanks!

I’ve had my oak counter tops 16 yrs and my kids have gone from toddlers to young adults in that time. I would have smashed every glass in the house with quartz, although I have it around the sink insert as wood would have been a disaster there. Keep the counter tops looking good with a light rub down with a cloth with oil every so often, especially if it looks as if it’s getting dry. We’ve rarely had scratches as it’s reasonably resilient, and only once did I have to gently rub a scratch out with fine sand paper. I use a small brush to clear up crumbs and that limits the number of times I’m wiping it down with a wet cloth throughout the day. Have plenty of mats at hand for hot cups and plates and clear up any spillages reasonably quickly - the oil will protect the surface to a degree but if a spill such as coffee or red wine is left it will eventually soak in and may be a problem to sand out. I was advised against a clear glaze painted on to the wood and I am glad now that I didn’t have it done. Hope this helps.
