Porch ideas

We have been renovating this house for the past 2 1/2 years. We are now ready to add a porch back on after removing the old rotted one. We are undecided on whether we want to screen it in or not. We cannot wrap it around because of the gas meter. Thanks :)

Comments (10)Thanks for the feedback, we had something similar in mind. Would you suggest bringing the door out to the front? What about the windows either side, we would think about replacing maybe in a different colour, possibly grey, and add some cedar cladding to the house front and paint walls grey. We are also toying with the idea of bring double doors out to the front with arclight over head and then to add coving around the windows with arc that mirrors the arc light to try and soften the whole angular look to to the front. Comments (4)Looking for ideas for updating front door and vestibule/porch area. Do I keep and update exterior sliding door or replace? I'm edging towards a light green for our internal door as goes with interior scheme. Hall quite dark so thinking of moving light fixture inside interior door and keeping as much glass in doors as possible. Any one with similar set-up or a creative brain that can share ideas? Comments (0)We have a very 1980s bungalow. We are looking to update the exterior but I’m at a loss as to what will look best. Really want to plaster over the brick. The windows and sliding door definitely date the property. Should we change the windows and door (maybe add a porch)? What style windows and doors? Modern windows and add on a brick porch or sash windows with Georgian style door? Or go contemporary with dark paint and maybe some sort of wooden feature? Sorry, not very technical with the terms!! 10 years agoI agree that an open porch will look more attractive than screened-in. I'd further recommend opening the porch entirely up, with stairs along both sides. Similar to this picture, but, as advised by decoenthusiaste, with a single porch roof in style akin to the front window, and side posts:I think this style of porch would not only be welcoming and more contemporary, but would also play nicely with your home's beautiful update and color scheme. I also imagine a comfy bench or chairs beside the front door, and littlecottage's landscaping ideas!
