I have a pillow similar to the one that you just posted (that’s burgundy with the floral embroidery look). You caught me at a bad time for commenting… so I didn’t get back to you! I’m still very worried about my son and sent you off an email giving you some backstory as I know you haven’t been here to catch up. I am more or less just distracting myself with the pillows, taking a break from worrying. 🤪

And in the list of ongoing things I’m distracting myself with, is my $2000 dental appointment coming up this morning. 😑At least it’s raining… That’s the good news. I have running water. I can flush the toilet. I can get out of bed in the morning as Morgan Freeman says, without falling over. Something to celebrate.

So back to the couch… Your elephant couch which I love reminds me that I can create my own custom covers if I want to in the future. And I agree the white pillows are very neutral but given the level of pattern in the rest of the room, sometimes I need something that’s plain. The couch is on the olive side, which creates issues in terms of the colours that work well with it. I have a ridiculous pillow collection, attempting to solve the pillow problem. none of the solutions are ideal and I should likely just give up on the concept that there is a perfect solution. I can understand why people go very neutral. It certainly simplifies life.

Back to the pillow scene… 😉Alice I covet your vintage pillow with the burgundy velvet center. That would look great on my couch lol when I have a bit of energy I will drag out some other pillows and experiment some more. Getting my pillows out is more of a project than you might think as they are in zippered bags underneath the bed in the guest room. Fiss I know you swear by those vacuum packed bags but it would be such a pain to reseal them each time I wanted to experiment with something and there’s a lot of distracting experimentation that goes on around here. 🤪

Getting the crown done was totally brutal. He’s an excellent dentist but OMG having my mouth cranked open for an hour while they worked on that back tooth was agonizing. Luckily I only had to pay for part of the work…so I went and bought groceries; necessary as I really have to be careful of that temporary crown until I get the permanent one on in about two weeks. So soft chew items only. Nothing crunchy or sticky.

I looked at the tag on that little pillow, which I do love myself with the green around the edges? It actually describes it as a kimono pillow! Which to me was exciting to have and I see it now that I read that.

Yea the sofa is slipcovered. They don’t always fit like you want them to, but I use covers quite a bit, unfortunately with the animals here.

There’s olive green in the rug actually as well as brown and navy. I’m going to my fabric store the next time I go in town then I will keep my eyes open. It’s really difficult to tell quality on pillow covers from the rainforest site although I have been successful in a couple of instances I have also wasted my money. I think fabric is the way to go. Thanks for the leather pillow Amanda… My son has a leather couch and it certainly is a practical option but I don’t get warm fuzzy feelings…🤣

Actually I’m not sure which green is olive… maybe it’s sage? I googled kimono pillow and I didn’t get your unique pillow shape, Alice but some nice kimono based designs. This green is the green that would match the couch… which is a gold green …an odd colour they called this “sage”…🤔pillow is $65 😑more than I want to spend atm. I like the soft geometric pattern. So many pillows, too little time…. The kimono design is one that I would think of for Christmas time. Something a bit different.

Olive green it depends a lighter shade of olive green is a little darker than a sage but a dark say olive green I mean a stupid phone repeated that it would be almost a hunter green then I like the brighter medium shade of olive green the best and those pillows look nice for you l i a I like them both and they do look like good materials especially that looks like a gold on my phone the diamond shape one but is that too complementary Style that you probably don't use in your area?

The colors work well in my opinion. i wouldn’t spend that much on a pillow either….You don’t need the inserts, just the covers.

These are a good price.

The rust is the right color, but the green is not… I have this unfortunate weird situation where my walls have a blueish tinge, but the couch has a yellowish tinge in the green. It makes dealing with colours a real pain in this world. Fortunately, the walls are extremely light..l so you don’t notice the conflict much but it’s definitely there. If the pillows are on the blue end of the spectrum, they don’t look good on the couch. Even though they do go with the walls 😵‍💫

Those are a good price but keep in mind you’re in US dollars. a problem for us Canadians are those tiny Canadian dollars. It takes more of them 🤪

Happy, you are right I don’t usually do geometric here, but I actually love this pillow because the geometric pattern is bead work. I’d be really tempted to get this pillow if it was already stuffed and if I knew the bead work was in good shape. I wouldn’t risk it on Amazon, however.

Maybe the solution is to keep away from green altogether….

I think a navy velvet might work, Jay. That is my conclusion from trying that old navy pillow that I had kicking around. I looked at some navy pillows on the rainforest site but had a hard time figuring out if they were the right shade of blue. I don’t want something that’s bright…. The blue in the carpet is quite subdued and not at all harsh. Amanda, I have pillows with a beige background and they do work fairly well. I have a hard time getting excited about beige however…😉

I’ve spent the evening going through a decade of journals, the ones that I am going to destroy. It’s been a useful exercise. I’m no closer to figuring out what I should do with them however. Unfortunately there’s a burn band on here and you can’t burn anything until 7 o’clock at night which is very inconvenient. I may have to wait.

Ban… in other words you aren’t allowed to burn anything during the day and it’s a total mosquito infestation in the evenings.

I’m tempted to soak them in buckets of water and then bury them.

Lia, I feel the need to bshare my pillow experience with you. Over a couple of years, I bought three "velvet" pillows. They were called velvet, but I'd call them velveteen. They were cotton, and the various throws I use in winter left little bits all over them. I could not get those off! so they were ruined.

Maybe the key is to get rayon velvet?! Someone here will surely have the solution, right???

Amanda I’m seriously considering that idea as well. Sam mentioned doing it and it’s doable. It could be cathartic. I might save certain pages and do some kind of art piece with them. Just thought of that idea actually.🥰
December that’s a good observation about cover fabric on a pillow. I never thought of that. I use throws consistently. Especially something in a dark blue is really going to show every single piece of lint, fuzz and (future) cat hairs. 🤦‍♀️

I think currently the answer is to go to my fabric store and see what is available there. I’m headed in town at the end of the week… i’m also thinking a tapestry fabric pillow could work.
