What colour are the subway tiles? White, or off white, etc.

Hi Sigginsy,

The subway tiles were more of a taupe in a generic name, but almost like a light brown sugar.

I think you will be fine with that choice in a small bathroom and I'm sure it's actually relatively common. Here is one example I found on houzz and it's a combination with have in our small carriage house bath as well. I have same tile, size but a lighter grout. I'm doing glass tile backsplash, under cabinet lighting to make it really pop. New hardware on cabinets, painting cabinets. New sink, can't afford new appliances. But your kitchen is larger, light and nice counter tops. Don't have a clue what to do, white Formica and it's cracking, ugh. I'm thinking of using indoor/ outdoor area rugs and runners. Please share if you find solution. good luck, doecreekgirl

Hi. I think the overall look is good. Large tiles do make a room feel bigger as the pattern is less busy however I've seen the hex tiles in small bathrooms and they seem to work as your inspiration pic shows. I would probably lose the flowers though if I'm honest. Do you want the window for light or ventilation? Could a decent extractor be sufficient? I'm thinking that back ŵall could look quite busy. Is there any opportunity to change the layout? Moving soil pipes can be a little costly but could the sink be moved although ideally the loo would be hidden round the corner. You can pick up some great looking vintage or vintage style taps on ebay although unsure if the quality of the repro ones, If the layout can't be changed maybe have a corner loo and ŵall hung trough sink and put some storage in on the rhs as you come through the door depending on how you plan for the shower to open

I agree that something simple like a subway would work and remain a classic over time. The subway could be a shade of white/off white to match your other whites in the room. I realize many will disagee, but i still like a subway in a natural light travertine with cherry cabinets. We have a small horse farm and work in our business seven days a week, so i get what its like not to want high maintenance and to have limited time. We have travertine as our backsplash. Seal it well when its installed and it is very easy to maintain over time. It also doesn't show every spot where things spatter.
