What a shame.. I thought Houzz was meant to give information and ideas freely. I personally am more inclined to go with a number of the architects, designers who are an open book, and help people on this site.. Just my 2c worth.

I think your colors are restful so I would work with those and not pop a color. Maybe some interesting artwork that had some color in it, but I think you should go for a more elegant calm look. By the way, I like the chandelier you have with the fireplace. I think I would paint the lower part of your wall the same blue as is in the top part. Then I would add some black accents in glass and lamps. Curtains that have a sheen or gold thread would be nice.

Snan, The bottom oval one in Eskandari's photos would also work in your room (or something like that). The oval shape visually gives height to the room which would work for you as well. I know that shopping around can sometimes be exhausting, but if you were up for the search that would be another option if you're not sure about the round one you have already. I would also look for something that combines the elements of your wallpaper as well as your fireplace (if you are not planning on changing it) in order to bring those together, i.e. try to bring in the color tones of the two.

If you want the look of the fireplace you posted but are scared that the dark grey will flood your room, you could paint just the one panel/side wall with the grey, paint the fireplace frame white, and then paint the rest of the room a more light neutral colour. It will also create a more contemporary look and create more focus to your fireplace. Alternatively you may feel more safe to paint the fireplace frame a neutral colour to match the neutral walls. When you are ready to replace the fireplace, I would suggest a bio ethanol burner as a simple solution with minimal DIY work and an option of different styles. Hi Becky I'm not sure what style you are looking for but try www.solidor.co.uk These are the best low maintenance front doors you can get with lots of options on colours, inside and out. We are one of their installers in Colchester and have four on display, if we are near enough pop in, if not just find a local installer. if you are after timber we supply Bereco, again go to their website, not cheap but beautiful. We also can supply Grey windows, not in 50 shades, but in 3, so you can have from light to dark. Anything else just ask. Regards Joe
