You need some kitchen accessories kettle etc that tie in with the red and also some artwork. The red you have chosen looks on my monitor to be a cool red, perhaps a bit of a warmer shade would help. i would also extend the dining area curtains down to the floor, they will cosy up the space, as would a statement rug to give a bit more life to the room. If your living room is green then it may be nice to have some token green of the same shade, somewhere in the kitchen, a plant or some artwork, and add a bit of the kitchen red to your living room, so that there is some continuity of colour in your home, as opposed to having two separate colour boxes and never the twain shall meet..

I think that better colors would be gray (more or less light, depending on how large is your room) or white. Other colors that match with a mix of black and white would be strong colors as red or green, but I think they are too colorfully to pain living walls. In my opinion the best one is white, although it sounds banal, but it would emphasize your wallpaper and wouldn't condicionate the rest of the decoration.

I have used paintable vinyl before and I agree, it really can look great, giving texture to a large expanse of wall. But the walls in this kitchen are particularly bad do I'd need a very thick paper. The problem is that any vinyl I've seen with heavy embossing has had a design more suited to a 1970 suburban semi than a rural kitchen. The previous owners used thick vinyl with good reason, it really did cover the imperfections but the texture and colour chosen were that of scrambled eggs! I would love something with a geometric pattern or maybe even Maureen's crochet texture if it were more pronounced. Thanks for your help, I'm sure what I'm looking for exists somewhere!

I’d really appreciate any ideas on how to decorate this playroom/living space. It’s 2 connected rooms partially underground so not much light. I’ve tried a blue/green theme with the rugs and paintings etc, but it still feels lifeless. The window is a strange shape, with a wider box covering above (which I can’t remove), so I haven’t managed to find blinds for it yet. All ideas very welcome!!
