A guy removed my existing fire place and did the installation. It was fire boarded and sealed around where the stove sits. I had a paint mixed at the local dulux centre "slightly off white" diamond hard acrylic eggshell don't used oil based paint. This was painted inside the chimney before the stove was installed I used a small roller 3/4 coats. Front wall is again from the dulux centre Flat white emulsion. The whole look is very plain but if you like the look, dress the walls with tasteful art and a nice vase or two, It works for me.

If you want the look of the fireplace you posted but are scared that the dark grey will flood your room, you could paint just the one panel/side wall with the grey, paint the fireplace frame white, and then paint the rest of the room a more light neutral colour. It will also create a more contemporary look and create more focus to your fireplace. Alternatively you may feel more safe to paint the fireplace frame a neutral colour to match the neutral walls. When you are ready to replace the fireplace, I would suggest a bio ethanol burner as a simple solution with minimal DIY work and an option of different styles. Seeing your love of geometrics and clean lines, would you consider adding some interest and texture with a geometric pattern tile, topped with a beech (is that the material in your alcove units?) mantle shelf? Very modern, but also very custom and interesting. At the moment, the space is quite sparse (but gorgeous!) and this might help warm things up a bit? There are also some amazing turkish tiles around now (2nd pic) that would add even more colour, but that might be a bit much for you? I would love it though!

Hi all, this is my current fireplace. We want to replace it as the hearth is broken and the cast iron is not really to our taste. Having browsed all local showrooms we still don’t see something that is right for us. Our ceiling here is quite low (7ft6ish) and I feel that the standard heights of 48” and 52” are too tall for our space. I would love to hear any suggestions or advice you might have. I would say our taste is quite farmhouse/cottage style. We like the idea of some pale brick element and a reclaimed wood mantle but are not sure if this is possible with our insert stove that we want to keep. Looking forward to some help!
