In my opinion if money is not a problem then Miele is top of the list.
I am also an AEG lover. I have an AEG induction hob. This is my second.
I have a Neff double oven and wouldn’t buy one again. It cooks more on the left hand side than the right and I know several people who have the same problem with their Neff ovens. Not that I use it a lot these days as I use the Ninja Air fryer. When replacement times comes for the oven I will be looking at an AEG.
I have a Neff fridge which is fine and a Bosch freezer which is much smaller than I thought I was getting so if you’re looking for an integrated upright freezer do check the capacity.
I tend to rate AEG, Bosch and Neff as very similar in price.
If Miele is out of your price range then stick with AEG.

Neck hide & slide steam oven gets my vote - I’ve got one and use the steam function often. We have a new AEG fridge/freezer and frankly the model we have is disappointingly small. We bought ours as part of the whole kitchen from Wren and if I’d seen it in real life red flags would have been blocking my view. We’ve also had 2 Elica extractors both of which failed shortly after the warranty ended. Pretty to look at but don’t get my vote. Best of luck!

I believe Liebherr manufacturers refrigeration for Miele, any thoughts on Liebherr larder fridge & freezers?

I have Neff slide and hide. 2 of them. They are great, quite simple to use. Guests love the party trick door. I have always bought Smeg range cookers in the past as I prefer a 900mm wide oven. Induction hobs are brilliant too we have Novy panorama. Liebherr are fantastic. If you can get the size, width and colour you want. Utterly reliable and easy to use. I totally agree with you about using the same brand as far as possible but the worst fridge freezer I have ever had was AEG. It kept packing up and eventually replaced with Siemens. AEG are now part of Electrolux which is Swedish. It's part of a group including Fridgedair. Miele are the best of everything if you can afford it. My last house but one that I completely renovated was all Miele and when we came to sell it was a huge plus point as well as being completely reliable. I would rather have less aplliances but make them Miele. When I designed kitchens Miele was by far the first choice. You get what you pay for.

I would say read all the reviews on AEG on trustpilot and others first. The reviews are shocking. I would avoid Caple too having sold it for a few years.

Look into Bora as they have a great reputation and are 100% German/Austrian. Their hobs with integral extraction look so slick and get great reviews and they have started doing ovens and more appliances too. Beware of John Lewis as their own brand appliances are made by Electrolux with the questionable after sales service.

Thank you I never even considered Bora because I always associate them with the inset extraction hobs which I don't want but I will certainly have a look at their ovens.

Out of interest, what is your opinion of Gaggenau vs Bora vs wolf vs Milele?

Gaggenau ovens are very aspirational but I wonder how many people use them? You always see them in high end houses and interior design projects. I don't know of anyone who has them or has actually used them and whether the high price is justified. I will investigate though and come back to you. They look stunning of course. They have an excellent pedigree so are probably worth it if you can afford them.

Quite a few high end appliances do not have the correct level of after sales service and I fear Gaggenau falls into this category. It's no use buying something so advanced when we (the UK) lack the resources to help when there is a problem. I have a very expensive hob that failed after three years. Novy. It took two months of daily phone calls, 3 repeated attempts to replace parts by a service engineer to eventually have it replaced in its entirety. This was a £5000 hob with a 5 year guarantee.

My kitchen design has drawers under my hob area and an overhead extractor canopy integrated into cupboards either side. I also need a multi fuel hob so the Bora isn't suitable for me.

I have drawers under my hob area and an integrated induction hob. It's only the shallow first drawer that is recommended to leave empty. The downdraft extractor has its own slot. I do have a wide island though. Island is 1.5m wide x 3.1m long. Why do you need a multi fuel hob?

I have some copper pans, and I am a keen baker and cook so I like that I can have two gas rings alongside the every day ease & cleanliness of induction which I use all my other induction safe pans with. It only seems to be Smeg and AEG who do the complete multi fuel hob otherwise it is separate domino hobs which I don't think is cost/space effective. I am not a Smeg fan and I like the look of the AEG one. I have three pan drawers under my hob and no island.

Great reason for multifuel. I love copper pans but obviously I have none! Have you owned Smeg as I have had two stainless steel range cookers and am a huge fan. They have new very modern ranges and a beautiful designer glass gas hob. AEG it is then. Thanks for explaining why. Just had a look and Smeg is also £300 to £400 minimum more expensive than AEG.

Maybe it's a misconception but I always considered them style over substance but that's just personal opinion. I've just always veered towards the Siemens/Bosch arena. We're going to go to some appliance centres to get a feel for what we like the look of and then go from there.

It is a misconception. Their customer support in the UK is not great. I also heard that when their range cookers were first delivered to flats (Brighton in particular) the delivery people did not understand the ethos of keep this side up so they turned them on their sides to navigate the stairs and this ruined the induction part at the top. Changed the alignment. I remember a large "this way up" on the box when mine was delivered. I found them very reliable and simple to use. I would buy another one tomorrow especially the Opera. It was also handy to have a small oven on the side of 300mm wide especially for baking. The other 600mm section was for everything else. Good idea to go and have a look. You can't beat seeing them in the flesh.

Make sure the warrantee is there from whichever brand you choose, fitted appliances are more expensive to fix and replace, My Bosch microwave went, I didn't want to get a new one as designs have changed after 4 years, so opted for repair at more or less same price as what i paid back then.
