Hi, we are in the middle of finishing our kitchen renovation, and we are stuck on the colour and material we should use for our kitchen splashback. My wife is suggesting some copper looking material either behind the hob or across the whole space. I'd appreciate your input as I've researched a lot of options but now I'm a bit lost on what colours and materials could work. Thanks in advance!
Great upper and lower cabinet colour combination. I would consider continuing my worksurface up the wall to the underside of uppers. Copper would look great and add real depth. You could also consider brass sheeting to add warmth. White or cream zellige tiles would add light and detailed interest. As you already have an upstand I would consider skipping a splashback altogether.
If you want the wood grain to be the focal point (I would) then a pale textured zellige (as mentioned above) would look lovely. Copper would work with the blue but would detract from the subtlety of the grain.
Maybe copper or similar behind the hob, but otherwise I don’t think you need tiles or anything, just decent paint that can take a little bit of wiping. Love the cupboard colour combo!
If you do decide to add a thin splash back such as tiles or metal sheet consider removing the Quartz upstand in order to gain a little space behind the tap
Hi- I couldn’t resist trying out the question on a chatgpt image generator, only giving it a prompt regarding what I could see in your photo (a modern handleless kitchen with dark grey lowers, ash uppers, and a white quartz counter. ) It came back with the Scandi-esque photo. The second photo was promoted by a request to change to a copper backsplash. It might be worth playing around with a similar image generator to help you set the right design direction. I personally prefer the light colour backsplash.
I would go for a simple Zelig style tiling as already suggested. They have a lovely pearlised finish which would go beautifully with the wood and the blue. Or perhaps light hexagonal tiles like below? They would look better with the upstand removed.
