What colour grout?

Hi everyone, I'm having 60x60 floor tiles laid in my hall, coat cupboard, kitchen and utility room. They are white with gold/grey marble effect going through them. Very light and very glossy. Obviously white grout would make them look more seamless but I'm panicking about the grout getting discoloured. I was thinking maybe grey grout but I really wanted to steer away from grey (my theme is very much modern art deco black, white and gold). Black grout would go with the theme but I feel it would look too harsh and divide the tiles too much, or would it look really effective and different (in a good way)? Or would gold grout work (if such a thing even exists?!) I'm struggling to find pictures of large white/light floor tiles with anything other than white or grey grout. Any advice please? Thank you

Are the floor tiles porcelain and rectified? If this is the case they can be laid very close together to minimise the grout which would help with keeping it clean. White or grey would look seamless. I am not keen on the idea of a darker colour as it creates a grid effect. What type of floor do you want to see as the finished product? Will it be partially covered in rugs, etc.? It sounds as though you want a light glossy effect so I would go with white or light grey. This will be a shoes off house obviously unless you want to clean the floor continuously. Look at as many images of art deco style tiled floors as possible to help you decide.

Your local tile shops should have grout sample sticks which you can insert between your tiles to see which colour suits best.

I think your colors are restful so I would work with those and not pop a color. Maybe some interesting artwork that had some color in it, but I think you should go for a more elegant calm look. By the way, I like the chandelier you have with the fireplace. I think I would paint the lower part of your wall the same blue as is in the top part. Then I would add some black accents in glass and lamps. Curtains that have a sheen or gold thread would be nice.

id have either stopped when mixing. if decided to see the look.done a small test patch. but too late. either full strip all Tile off and restart or Rake the grout back and re grout. I dont recommended the grout pens.

Hi there! We think a white grout is probably your best option here, if you don't want it to look too busy. This is one of our hexagon mosaic tile displays we have in the TileStyle showroom and we have used white grout for this. As you can see, the shape of the tile is still very much visible but it's still a more subtle look that's not too busy. Pick out a pale grey from the marble veining and use that as a starting point. Borrow real samples (not plastic ones) and when you think you have chosed correctly, buy a bag and get the tiler to stick some tile pieces to a board and grout them with the bag you have bought. If it's correct then go ahead, if not keep testing. Bad grout can really ruin tiling and for the cost of a bag of grout it's not worth it. Don't use black or gold.
