Hexagonal tile backsplash - which grout

Hello, I've attached our kitchen plan. I've just ordered small hexagonal tiles for the backsplash area which is about 3.75sqm. There is a navy island with white stone top and a large navy larder unit on the other wall. The idea is the white backsplash will provide a contrast to the navy cabinets. My question is - what colour grout shout we chose for the small hex tiles. Originally I thought white but i wonder if the hex shape will disappear? My other option is a light grey but I don't want it to look too busy or take away from the navy/white contrast. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Hi there! We think a white grout is probably your best option here, if you don't want it to look too busy. This is one of our hexagon mosaic tile displays we have in the TileStyle showroom and we have used white grout for this.

As you can see, the shape of the tile is still very much visible but it's still a more subtle look that's not too busy.

I agree. Go with white. Darker grout will look too busy and, in my opinion, grey grout looks grotty. White grout will look clean and the pattern will still be visible but more subtle than if you use a darker grout.

Since you are keeping the flooring, everything new has to be in relation to the floor. Do you have a photo of the floor? Hold up samples of the cabinet paint and see if it enhances the flooring. You might need a more cream paint on cabinet and see these dark knobs. Some of the marble-type have many gray streaks. I'd look for something with brown-beige streaks to enhance the beige grout and beige floor tilehttps://www.houzz.com/photos/traditional-bathroom-traditional-bathroom-phvw-vp~93581 The back splash I'd do in the same "marble" as the counters b/c if you match the beige grout of the floors, with the subway tile, the back splash tile will look odd and if you use a white grout on the subway tile, it will look odd with the floors, too.

Thank you soo much for your compliments. It makes me happy as we did everything ourselves (took a while since only had sometimes time during the weekends). id love to see your kitchen as soon as you have the bodbyn installed. What colour countertops/backsplash, floors do you have? can buy a small “tester” can/container and try it. Can always be painted over. we really dont have much exposed wall directly next to the cabinets... except for the 15”deep (island against the wall). we have large opening above that “breakfast” counter to the family room (so as we sit we can watch tv that’s over the fireplace.). That room we also decided to paint the same as the kitchen. would have been too tight to have an island in the middle of the kitchen.

A15) @Dara Cooke: If you can't afford a quartz or granite worktop from day one then I would recommend using a laminate worktop as a temporary solution. If you don't put tiles up as a backsplash then replacing the worktops can be relatively easy in a couple of years.
