Lounge layout. Where to put the tv?!

Hi all, we have recently bought an arts and craft home. It’s not to my taste so I will be changing all the colours however I am struggling with layout. Where to put the tv? I don’t want it above the fireplace but the current owners have it blocking the window.
I also can’t think where to put shelves or what colour to pain the beams! (I intend to paint the walls dimpse). Any help or suggestions on this room are appreciated!

Beautiful room. i love the crittall door and the wallpaper, looks like Little Greene paper? I just think the ceiling needs to be a warmer white like their clay pale with a taupe for the beams although would see how the ceiling looks with the warmer white first. Do you have a floor plan? You could have the tv to the right of the fire, big sofa where they have theirs. And then 2 chairs, one somewhere in the corner by their tv and another where they have the smaller sofa angled towards the large sofa.

TV on the wall beside the patio doors? So in that same corner, but against the other wall so main TV-watching sofa is facing the patio doors.

Take out sofa, use beanbags and those blow up seats for their friends. Coloured rugs for tumbling and crawling on. Supersoft teddy bear blankets so they can curl up. Add in one of those soft blanket boxes for toy storage and so you have somewhere soft to perch when you are with them. Paper half way up the wall in the wall paper that kids can draw on, so they can decorate in whatever colour they like and you won't mind. A childs lift up desk, bookcase and some crazy lamps in weird colours. Then close the door, collapse on the sofa that you have moved, breathe a sigh of relief and thank your lucky stars that you have another room for the kids to go to. (Grab wine and pretend they aren't yours for half an hour! ;-) )

I like the idea with the pink highlighted edge. This opens u the kitchen dining space but keeps the lounge and study separate as you wanted. I would add bifold doors if possible along the back wall of the dining room to make it feel even bigger. Hope this helps

If it all fits in then why not. I don't think the desk will go with the bed or maybe it would work it the desk was painted. Do you need the desk or could you use a smaller console table for working/doing things from ? Not a fan of sliding doors would rather swop the door so it opens the other way if space is an issue. What is going on the shelves are they needed ?

If you don't want to make the wall itself straight, maybe consider playing with some deep shelves ABOVE the TV, that could go from the diagonal wall to the straight line where you want to put the TV. Then behind the TV you could have a vertical panel of the same colour/material of the shelves (or matching the colour of the wall) to connect the TV stand to the first shelf and hide the awkward wall. To avoid having empty space right beside the door you could put a narrow shelving unit (with a back panel, not an open one) between the TV stand/panel and the straight wall (or beside it if it's short) that goes from floor to first shelf, again I'm imagining same colour/material of the rest so it binds seamlessly rather than looking like patchwork to fill the space. It's a little complicated to explain but I hope it makes sense!

You have such a beautiful room!

Personally, I would attach your TV on the wall to the right of your patio door on a adjustable TV wall mount to enable you to change the angle of viewing.

I also have a controversial suggestion for you... Have you considered a Samsung 'Frame' TV?

They are not everyone's cup-of-tea, but I really like the way they look from a home interior design perspective.

The TV is specifically designed to look like a framed piece of art when the TV is not in use which helps it blend into you decor. The Frame TV is incredibly slim. The frame itself is also customizable from standard black to wood finishes which can help disguise your TV naturally into it's surroundings. You don't appear to have any framed artwork on your walls (yet) but you could match the frame style for consistency.
