Increase light to kitchen

I am looking to redo my kitchen space by moving the units to the other end of the room, and creating a small reading area (roughly where the sink is now). In an ideal world I would have doors opening up on to the garden at the rear, but there is a utility room there..which is extremely useful. I could remove it, but don't really want such a long rectangular kitchen, so I am looking to see how to get light through from the utility side of the wall- I'm thinking of moving the units in the utility and creating a floor to ceiling window, and then moving the doorway from the kitchen so that it would allow the light to flood in. Are there any better options that I am missing? Wondering if it is too much work for too little gain...
Ps I am also looking to have patio/bi-folding doors where the sink is now

    Ah well something for the future then if you decide to stay long haul re going out across the back 😊

    Rooflights would make such a difference inside the kitchen then.

    You could still make your reading nook in that corner by the utility wall if you swap the kitchen around. It would be smaller but for space saving, you do a bench seat with back so you lay up against it facing the new glass doors in that corner. Or have a large picture window and have window seating there instead ie chairs can take up so much room compared to walled seating!
