It’s hard to tell from the photos but I would think you should run kitchen units up to the range (that’s what we would call it in Ireland) so it’s part of the kitchen work area.

We did consider that, but the expense would be alot higher to move the cabinets and stove to that side of the kitchen, it's also darker at that side of the kitchen in comparison to where the range is

Is it still going to be functioning for heating?

Yes, which is the main reason we're keeping it.

What’s on the other side of the room? Is it a dining table or sitting area? Build units either side so you can use it to prep food.
