Hoping to find a bit of inspiration for my tiny bathroom!
I've recently bought my home and it's so lovely to be able to put my stamp on it. The house is a 1929 semi-detached house.
I'm looking to renovate my bathroom in the next year but a bit stuck as to what colour scheme and porcelainware to go for.
It's really small (1.8m x 1.8m) but has loads of natural light. It currently has floor to ceiling white tiles, and I think the bath/sink/toilet will need to stay where they are in view of the size constraints. I'd like a bit of colour but worried about making it feel small the most of the space.
It's a bit of a sanctuary for me at the moment and I'd like to make it feel more homely!
Pictures of the current bathroom - leaning towards a Mediterranean feel or something that nods towards the 1920s/1930s origin of the house at the moment but open to ideas....
I've had a look on Pinterest etc but thought I'd ask here too!

Until you decide exactly which style you really want, why don’t you just buy the largest mirror bathroom cabinet you can fit on the wall above the sink, the one you have seems too small for all the toiletries you have. Once you have cleared them all away buy a clear shower curtain (why do people buy patterned shower curtains, who sees you having a shower?) so long as it keeps the water in the bath job done. It’s amazing how clutter can give the impression of no space. Not too much money spent until you are certain what you want.

My bathroom is tiny as well. I have off white tiles, blue/green mosaics and Dulux Denim Drift on the walls. I would advise not to over tile, that is tile where necessary such as around the bath etc. You can then add colour on the walls with paint. If you go with a neutral tile then you can paint the walls whatever you like. However, coloured tiles can look stunning though. Love tiles laid in a stack position as below. A patterned floor is lovely in a small bathroom. I would go for vinyl as tiling a small room can be very fiddly.

Thank you, Stan, for your advice. I was contemplating putting a similar light like yours above the cabinet, but decided I prefer lights on either side, as there is a lot of space which I'd like to fill a little. I will also put them on top of tiles, so another point to consider. The ones I had chosen only protrude 90 mm from the wall, so I wonder if they should protrude at least the same as the cabinet, which is 150 mm, to illuminate the face, when putting on make up or in general. Here is a picture of the lights I really liked...and another one in a room situation ( not my bathroom), but they are next to a mirror with minimal depth. I like them a lot, but am open to other options, just wondered about projection.

If it was me, I would centre it and only silicone the back. I understand your concerns about water going down the side. Realistically, though, as you will only be washing your hands and maybe teeth in it, there is unlikely to be much water gushing about. To detract from the fact there is not as much space on either side of sink, I would have carpenter either wall mount or put legs on the cabinet so there is space underneath and the unit doesn't look too chunky!

Hi, I need some advice on what colour I should paint my family bathroom. It has dark grey floor tiles, freestanding shower, bath and wash basin with with the same grey tiles behind. Front of house bathroom

Hi, We are soon to start a renovation project. We are happy with most of the plans. However, the bathroom will now be at the front of the house and we are struggling to visualize what it will look like. I have attached a sketch of the before and after and one of the side part of the extension. We just feel the window will look small and may look off-balance with the rest of the house. Does anyone have suggestions or examples of bathrooms at the front of a semi-detached home? Any advice would be appreciated!! Thanks! Sinead

It already has a bath and it needs to stay (and hopefully be replaced with a nicer one) for my mental health. Non negotiable I'm afraid! Love the drawing though - how did you do it?

I might swap the basin and loo so you could have a shower screen, possibly moving the basin to the door wall if this gives enough room…it does look smaller than the dimensions….

a slipper bath might suit if a shower isn't a priority…. facing away from the rest of the room to create tranquilty

If the basin doesn’t overlap the bath too much, a glass shower screen (hinged at the wall) would give you cleaner lines. I’d also replace your bathroom cabinets with taller ones (mirrored to reflect light) which stretch all the way across from the shower screen to the corner so that you’ve more storage. The room will feel more spacious if stuff is hidden in cabinets!

Would add to Eileen’s comment that a good deep clean, especially of the grout lines, will make the room sparkle. You could pick up on the ‘filigree’ design in the current border tile and mirror that in the shower curtain. Some natural wood accessories in a bath shelf ( that is sooo the wrong name for it!) and a basket maybe under the vanity basin will give you a space that you can be in and get a clearer picture of what you would like/need in any renovation work.

I love a bath - had a few terrible life events so the bath rack was my treat to myself! I know the bathroom would have much more space with a walk-in shower but I'd rather have less space but think it out well than lose the bath 🛁

I have ideas for the storage and will obviously be cleaning as described but would love some colour inspiration.....

Without going to the expense of redoing the lot, you could bring in color by painting the bath panel and could maybe the ceiling? The blue suggested by Sonia would then be able to included in soft accessories as well. It would then switch it from a black/white which can be stark, to a softer room.

Whole lot is being redone.... tiles are coming away from walls, bath panel is old, cracked and yellowing and the bath is chipped. So it's a clean slate!

We're eager to break down the wall between the toilet and bathroom, but the challenge lies in the existing layout. The toilet is positioned farther in due to hidden waste pipes. Moreover, a storage cupboard occupies space behind the sink, which we'd like to preserve. I wanna to buy https://www.aquaticabath.co.uk/category/stone-bathtubs and install cool bath like We're seeking creative ideas for rearranging this bathroom. Any suggestions on how to optimize the layout while retaining the storage cupboard would be greatly appreciated. Please share your insights!

For a small bathroom i would go for mostly white walls but then you could maybe add a colour feature wall or some nice tiles somewhere, another good idea is to invest in a nice big mirror maybe one with led lights i got mine from plumbhq the other month, mirrors really tend to open up the space a bit. Make sure to share your photos when you're done cant wait to see the transformation!!
