Wrong colour granite :(

I think I have picked the wrong colour granite. It was supposed to be white but in the extension it looks grey. How can I pull it together or do I need to replace the granite altogether? The kitchen is a warm tone but the granite a cool tone. Can anyone help?

I might be able to help. I teach colour theory (mainly to artists) and one of the most useful things to know is that value (which is how dark and light things are) draws the eye, it's the most important aspect of depth perception and how we make sense of the world. What this means is that if you have things that are different in hue (colour) but similar in value (like your units and the workshop) and they are also 'greyed' then we focus on the obvious clash ( one looks yellow, the other blue). The most useful thing to do in this situation is to create a darker value contrast somewhere, this will lessen the clash you are seeing. A deeper coloured wall might be worth trying before you go replacing the granite.

Another idea is to repeat what you have to make it look deliberate. Some deeper coloured charcoal items (that relate to the granite) and more wood items that relate to the floor might help.

This is why name descriptions (such as grey and white) are essentially meaningless. Most greys have a discernible colour to them and it's important to know what that colour is.

id have either stopped when mixing. if decided to see the look.done a small test patch. but too late. either full strip all Tile off and restart or Rake the grout back and re grout. I dont recommended the grout pens.

You could do gray if you change the walls to a white Bm simply white for walls Bm decorators white for ceilings and trim gray inspiration in pic below, if you have an island do it a deeper tone of gray than all other cabinets to ground the island to the room

Wall panelling looks wrong

We've done some wall panelling along the stairs and for some reason it doesn't work the way I planned it. It makes hallway look cluttered, and sort of "jump" right on you when you come in, as this is the first thing you see in the house (photos are taken from the entrance). It's not painted yet ( just primed), and probably will look slightly better when all painted the same colour, but still feels wrong. I wonder, is it because the squares are too small? Boards too thick? Should I leave wider space between vertical boards? Any ideas how to make it look better? All advices are highly appreciated. Thanks.

I imagine replacing the granite would be an expensive and disruptive option. I think it looks good. Maybe you need a warm toned paint on the walls?

It looks beautiful. So much nicer than boring white! The white walls seem to increase the different hues, so I wonder if a taupe shade on the walls instead would help? You could match to the units or go a bit darker. Certainly cheaper than a new worktop. Dulux Perfectly Taupe might do, but of course get match pots first.

You have 3 dominant colors here: worktop, fronts and wall. For me (I work with colors for years in different design areas including kitchen design) wall color give cool feeling even more than worktop. I would try off-white. I don't see a problem between granite and fronts. Stronger contrast would be better, but it's ok. Also I would rather try silver handles. So your grey worktop will be visually connected with handles.

I like the whole look. It looks gorgeous. You are feeling bad that you may have made a mistake only because it is different to what you anticipated and not exactly how you imagined. My advice would be don't do anything for now. Live with it fir a while, have some visitors and see their faces light up at the sight of your beautiful new calm muted colour kitchen. I don't think white would have been right, this is far more serene in my opinion. New things always look drastic when they are what we are focusing on. I have learnt not to judge 'mistakes' until you've finished dressing the room and are enjoying living in the space.
