Hello! You may have asked (and we may have answered) this same question a few months ago. The center cupboard as well as the rest of the cabinetry in this room was custom fabricated by Presidential Cabinets in Lancaster County, PA. Thank you and good luck!

Have you thought about choosing furniture first? If not try that. The reason for that is your bed and other furniture such as dressers and wardrobes will take centre stage, so that should take priority. Perhaps there's a particular style or piece of art that inspires you and with that can get you started. Perhaps choose colour last as it can be something to complement all your furniture, carpet, window dressing etc. Don't forget to think about lighting, so important in a bedroom, soft bedside lamps for reading and relaxing and maybe a brighter central light for dressing, etc. Windows are important too. Too often they're neglected, if you're a light sleeper think about blackout backed curtains or blinds. And it's here and with rugs/ carpets, pillows and throws where you can really have a bit of fun. Perhaps an interesting colour and stylish pattern to spruce things up such as chevron or other geometric patterns. Look forward to seeing the room. Good luck!

Dear Éilíse Sullivan, the mahogany wardrobe looks like a great project! The image is too small for me to see the details of it; it looks like has glass/metal door at the top part and design details on the draws. If you send me a better quality image and with the door closed I can visualised it for you in any other colour you like if it helps. Replacing part of the furniture (glass) with solid panels covered in wall paper or fabric, using decoupage for the inside of the drawers or muted colours on the outside and brights on the inside ... are all possibility depending in which room you want to place it and what you are going to use it for. Are you going to do it for yourself, just for fun or to sell/present? I would paint the back panel in a darker colour, also the inside of the wardrobe part and all the horizontal and vertical straight lines to frame the different units: draws, 'open shelf' cabinet at the top and door. I would go for wall paper on the inside of the draws, something sympathetic with the darker tone on the back panel ... the handle can stay or be replaced (I need a closer look); they can really give a wist to the furniture if changed. For the choice of colours ... it really depend on where it goes and what you want to do with it. The room's images you posted are quite different in style. You could try to 'blend' the piece in to the room's design scheme by choosing complementary colours or go the opposite and bring in a bold statement. I like bold statements! Dreamy Truffle? Where did that come from, what did I miss? I wouldn't go that way either but any of the neutrals on the bottom row will work. Oh, sorry, I see it now, duh. When you paint your walls in a neutral color like off white you don't need to repaint when you're tired of it. It's much easier to change art and accessories than it is to repaint.

We're renting a two bed apt and can do a few smaller things in it, nothing too major... I want to get a dishwasher but the most appropriate space for it, under the drainer, is where the washing machine is. We have a condenser dryer that is out in the 'dining area' and on a wooden floor, whereas the kitchen is tiled. I think the easiest solution for us would be to make a laundry cupboard of sorts in that corner of the dining area, and stack the washing machine and dryer there, making space in the kitchen for the dishwasher. So, my questions are these... is this a good idea at all? Should we put some waterproof tray type base to protect the floor? Is it advisable to sound proof the cupboard somehow? Thanks
