We own in a victorian era home (brick, 3 story, lots of original woodwork), but don't love victorian furniture or design. We lean more toward the minimal, sleek, look of danish and mid-century--though not a purist in this regard. Looking for advice on how to preserve some of the original features of the home while updating in a way that will blend with our more modern/midcentury pieces and style.
Anyway, at the moment we are trying to think about how to update our staircase (dark victorian woodwork on railings, etc) which is a centerpiece of the entryway in a way that would both preserve some of the original while making updating it to something more modern. Thoughts?
