If you want to make a feature out of them I would go long. If you want them to be subtle go shorter, either way make sure there is enough space to easily get you fingers underneath to open the drawers.
Go with long handles for a modern look. If you prefer a more classic and elegant feel, get short or round ones. It might be easier for you to choose based on the design and style of the cabinets and appliances you already got.
