New Kitchen, different colour than planned ..

Hi all, just had my new kitchen installed, it is meant to be based on ‘Off black by farrow & ball’ but it has a lot more blue tones than I’d hoped, I think it’s closer to railings. I’m waiting on a white worktop (Calcutta gold)
Can anything be done at this stage to fix it ? Or any tips how to make it appear darker? I’m trying to accept the new colour as it’s a full reno project and lots to do but i’m finding it tricky as I’m not sure the blue tones will sit well with the colour scheme I had in my head (includes a matt black oven) Thanks in advance

I like it especially with the gold handles. I think once your worktop is in place it will look nice. I would wait until it’s all finished.

Wow I love it! It has hints of green and blue and is stunning. I bet it will look amazing when it is finished. We all often have wobbles during a refurb. The white worktop will also help to lift it, as will a bit of colour on the walls.

thanks for posting the photos. First, I feel like there is a mix of styles in the design that aren't really complementing each other. The waterfall walnut frame around the frig and wall oven areas is VERY modern. But the rounded front cooktop/bar, the divided light glass front cabinet doors, and molding on the upper cabinets are very traditional -- maybe even a bit 'cottage'. The looks are fighting each other IMHO. Also, I would reconsider the placement of the wall ovens -- they seem very crowded back in that corner. And the range hood going to the ceiling but the cabinets stopping short looks odd to me. Maybe a different hood with a narrower chimney would look better. And, is that the dishwasher on the island? --- Yikes -- I would want that right next to the sink (otherwise you'll be dripping water all over the floor everytime you load it)

White goes with anything. We have a high gloss white handleless kitchen from Crown but the good thing is that our kitchen decor can always be updated. Walls can literally be painted any colour and it will go, same with wallpaper and even changing the worktops. If you want something this becoming in style, light grey kitchens are becoming an extremely popular alternative to white. We have hints of light grey in our kitchen (Cornice and end panels to frame it)

Love drawers in kitchens..especially in lower cabinets..of course sink and stove and refrigerator and dishwasher are handier if they are close together..my favorite feature is a nice big pantry so all your stuff can be in easy...accessible...open to view shelving...a counter...food,dishes,occasional use cookware and small appliances...all right where you can see it and access it easily...nice and close adjacent to the kitchen. This leaves all storage in the kitchen for every day use pieces...this creates less need for upper cabinets so your kitchen can have more windows and a less closed in feeling to work in

Thank u both for the vote of confidence! Re colour on the walls, I was thinking attic blonde from colourtrend which is very fresh, would u agree or something warmer? Suggestions welcome!

I’m not familiar with that brand and although I’ve just Googled the shade it’s difficult to tell from a screen.

Colourhappy on here may be able to help you with that.

I think it could work as long as the room has good light. I’ve had a look on Pinterest and most off black kitchens are teamed with white or pale grey walls, but I also found this with pink walls!

Hi Jillian, the kitchen looks lovely and works really well with gold to add warmth. You may find you would like a warm paint colour on the walls as Artic Blonde looks like it may be a little cool.

When you have a light worktop, the contrast will make it look darker. I would use lights under wall units and not strong ceiling lights. Handles don't go black!

Its hard to see but could you post a picture of the floor tiles? They look to be a warm buff colour, is that right? If so I would go with something similar to the floor and go for a soft warm buff/stone to balance the blue black weight of the units. Blue works brilliantly with anything wood and deep black blue can work with warm taupe colours so I would add in plenty of natural wood. Skimming Stone might be worth trying as a wall colour. It also depends on the lights and if they dim to warm or stay as they are.

Sure, here u go - the colour is brook bone, they look warmer than planned against the blue ish tones
The spots will stay (not sure what colour they are but will can change them) but will be adding 3 counter pendents as well in the pic

From the photos I think it looks great. The white worktops will lift it and the reflect light around the space. I like the floor colour and it goes really well with the brass handles.

I would definitely go for an LED strip light at the back under the cupboards to illuminate your work top. Otherwise you are working in your own shadow. Dimmers on your spots would mean you could reduce the glare to give more atmosphere and the pendants over the workspace could also be on dimmers.

I don’t know the paint colour you are suggesting but I would go for a lighter shade of the floor colour but still distinct enough to contrast with the white. In the first photo it looks such a lovely warm colour toning with the brass detail and lifting the black and white.

Keep going you are doing a great job.
