We moved to a lovely 1950s bungalow 18 months ago but I'm a bit stuck with the hallway layout. It is north facing so quite dark and the depth either side of the front door is not great. Placing items/furniture along both walls turns it into a narrow corridor, but use just one side and it looks unbalanced.
We plan to replace the door panel with full glass to bring in more light, and we have ordered a small accent chair upholstered in yellow. The walls may go lighter, I just did a quick paint job to cover an awful peach colour. The front door is not used as a regular entrance as parking is at the back, so coat and shoe storage is not a necessity. I'm thinking of it more as a reading 'nook'. Any suggestions exorcism for the blank wall would be appreciated. We feel we're stuck with the dado as it's practically welded to the house!
