if you're not going to center the dining room table under the light, then I'd tend toward a flush or semi-flush fixture, to de-emphasize the alignment. You might want to remove the medallion from the ceiling too. As for the kitchen it looks like you have decent overall lighting -- maybe you're looking for a couple of pendants over the island? simple glass globes, maybe? here are a few styles to start you out.

Hi, I have found lights I love but am unsure of configuration over my dining table. Am thinking 2 large (450mm wide) or 3 small 250mm (or 300mmm) over the table. The restriction I have is the flat roof width above the table is just 93cm wide (see where current IKEA shade is hanging). I'm worried might look a bit squeezed, The table length is 2 meters. The 3rd picture is similar but with 5 sides instead of 4. Could pick either. Would love some opinions and any other thoughts? Thank you!

Hi All, Apologies if this has been done to death but I currently have a very dark dining room due to an extension that has been built to the rear of it. The kitchen has relatively more light so I was hoping to borrow some light from the kitchen. I am a bit nervous about fully bringing down the wall between the kitchen and dining room as I would like to preserve the entity of both rooms if that makes any sense. Question is any ideas or photos of the below ideas that can help me decide between the options I am looking into: (a) knock down wall fully (b) knock down half the wall to create an arch (c) add a sliding door between dining and kitchen? Have lots of space and am looking for 8 seater min, with perhaps extending to 10. Rectangular or Circular, but think rectangular would work best.
