Hello -- Bullseye Wood Specialties did the cabinetry for this project. We did not handle the stone, backsplash, etc.

@Jayme Hobbs .. thanks a mil Jayme I had been looking at a light grey colour but was afraid it might end up looking just whitewashed but I love the wall paint in the pic. @eagledzines.. I've attached the closeup of the counter, will look into changing the handles just to give the cabinets a lift. @Dannielle Lyn... I am afraid blur will be limiting. I like the idea of gray, then in bring in the blue with accents. I would remove the lone cabinet on the left. Is it possible for you to build a pantry? A place to store the freezer is my goal with that. Where is your refrigerator? Just trying to get the lay of the land. A pantry would not be any deeper than the cabinet already there and with a sliding door you free up lots of space. Build it the width you need to fit the freezer and then about a 12 -18inch wide shelf space for boxed items, cereal etc. Leave enough room to fit your refrigerator next to it...about 30 -32 inches is needed. It looks like you have nearly 7 feet to play with. I know this pic is a washer/dryer, but just to give you the feel.

Thank you for your suggestions and ideas! I love some of the more daring/colourful ideas, but I don't think I'm, personally, bold enough to go with such a contemporary look. I'm going to stick to a traditional/modern style and use large (4" x 8") white subway tiles and dark grey grout. I'm thinking of using a dark grey paint around the kitchen walls and then a lighter shade around the rest of the room, with maybe the dark grey on the wall behind the TV too. Will be a few more weeks before that's all done, but I'll post a picture when I eventually get there. Thanks again!

What is the easiest black splash to keep clean

Glass panels are the easiest to keep clean. You can have some with pattern and colour on the back of glass, so it doesn't look boring.
