please can you shar your thoughts on wall paint - the si open plan living with kitchen dining and living area.

trying to create zones

Woul you

1. put a different paint in piano zone?

2. different paint colour in dining zone?

If kitchen is going to be white with dark Slate Grey tall units/ Island, what colour scheme would oyou nsider for walls?

This is a great family space. I wouldn’t use paint to zone the room but, like in you have in the 3D image, zone with the furniture arrangements and rugs. I would merge the seating and piano into 1, with a large rug to define, centralise the seating area and widen as the chairs are currently interrupting the Flow. Put the piano on the wall beside the smaller door with enough room for a stool and circulation. For colour, introduce lots of low maintenance plants, cushions, paintings.

Or shall I put piano between 2 sofas? To integrate it?

I agree with everything said so far. Would suggest you get built in book shelvers on both sides of fireplace, lift tv into a slot it fits perfectly into (make sure you have power on both sides). Then it will disappear more rather than fight with fireplace as focal point. I am always disappointed with mirrors over fireplaces, they become dark, are to high to reflect much. Plus then you have three rectangles fighting for center stage. I'd say very colorful artwork instead. Wonder if you can reorient tv where the big chairs are so both tv and fireplace are addressed? Color, maybe you should decide on furniture first?

Loads of options as you basically have a black canvas. I love a rich teal, or dark turquoise. You could also consider wine or pink, or indeed red, but careful of tones

We are getting a media unit made for the back wall of our living room similar to the below pic but painted in off white. I have attached 3 pics of our living room, unit is being built on wall where tv is currently. We will be removing the green unit beside the sofa. Can someone please advise the optimum furniture layout for the room with the new built in unit and should we remove the centre ceiling light?

Rough cost to create open plan living

Hi All I am thinking about knocking through some walls to create an open plan kitchen living dining area and moving the utility and WC to another part of the house. I have attached photos of plans of what I have now (the drawing I’m colour) and what I am thinking of doing. Would anyone have an idea of what this type of thing costs? Are we talking €20k, €50k 100k?? I suppose a ball park figure to see if this is something we could afford before we start contacting professionals and wasting there time!! We are based in Ireland. It depends on how the piano is used. If it’s a dust collector between rare practice 🙃, then off to the side but if you have music sessions regularly then maybe a more central position is warranted.
