Dear houzzers, I need to accomodate a wardrobe in the living room to save space in the bedroom. I can easily assemble things but I do not have the tools required for making mdf furniture. I wonder if anyone has hqd any experience with hacking IKEA furniture for producing something like this? Many thanks, Bob
Hi Bob. Yeah IKEA are fab for mixing it up. There are wall units that look so cool in any room. For living room I'd recommend deep bookcase with doors that you can add handing rail to, check depths so you get a streamlined look. Their planners are handy and quite easy.
Hi there! I also need some extra storage in my living room (for hanging jackets, for linen and for books), and I am planning to purchase a Platsa storage combination from Ikea. There is an online configurator which makes things quite easy. Only problem ist, Ikea is out of stock of nearly everything right now.
Ikea hacks is a good place to start but don't be afraid to add in a few extra little bits in pieces, there are so many board processing facilities around that would make this easier. I've been using https://cworkshop.co.uk/ a lot recently.
here is something a made years ago by combining ikea and a few cut to size and edged parts...
second point have you considered using fabric (curtains or drapes) to cover what you don't want to see? I've always thought this was a great idea, here are a few examples my supplier released recently...
