What is the most effective way to completely black out light in bedroom with a very large window 2.40mx2.50m? Blackout blind or heavy curtain?

I would go for both and set your curtains higher up with a rail and not a pole so there is less gap at the top (to stop as much light coming through)

Otherwise curtains over a blind as the blinds let light in at the sides.
There are companies who do cassette blinds which bloc out all the light but wow, they are super expensive.

You could always keep the binds that you have, and add a curtain in a side swipe to dress it up a bit more. So the blinds will control the light and the curtain is decorative.

I would want to maximize the size of the space by keeping the drapes and sheers neutral to blend with the wall color. By hanging ceiling to floor drapes and sheers for both the window and the sliding glass door you are bringing the focus back into the room. Installing tie-backs will allow for privacy and light.

Hey Oldholly, Are you changing the glass to clear or keeping them frosted? If you are keeping them frosted, would you consider aluminium venetians? You can add a bit of colour if desired but with them, you can also allow light in while covering up the frosted glass. If you are changing the glass, you could consider roller blinds or roman blinds both adding a touch of class if the right fabrics are selected. Need some help choosing window dressings for my living room, pinch pleat curtains or roman blinds? I think curtains are more luxurious but they will cover wainscoting in the window & hang behind the sofa so a bit annoying for opening & closing. Any advice/suggestions on colour, fabric, texture, solid or pattern would be great and also any other suggestions for the room too
