You could splice a rain / beading / small coving just below the original to hold an LED strip light, it makes a good ambient light source. You could also use some wall sconces instead of lamps, if you don't want to go to the hassle of channelling the wire (I wouldn't blame you) you could have them wired with a cloth bound flex with a plug and switch. I've done that myself so I can easily move them around if I want.

Such a lovely room. I have a similar room and I have floor lamps and a table lamp on every corner. The way you have your floor lamp over the black chair is just what I’ve done. You just need more of it. You could pop a table at one end, or both, of the leather sofa and place a table lamp on it. Or another floor lamp. For me it creates a lovely cosiness at night, enough to read by, but not glaringly bright.

I think you should replace the floor lamp behind the Eames chair with a floor lamp that uplights and get a smaller task lamp on the shelves for reading in the that corner.

We have a large anglepoise in the corner of our living room but point it upwards and it provides really nice soft light. It has a large frosted globe lightbulb from IKEA - 1000lumens!

Does the lamp that currently provides your dining lighting swing easily? If so,if you could jiggle round your corner decor, and position it where the cello presently is to swivel to then do double duty over the living area.
