Really need help to choose a colour for a new front door.

Having new door fitted and need to decide on colour. Woodwork will be very dark brown/black. Getting brushed chrome door furniture. Would love any advice - thanks so much

I think dragon fly or the river blue would look gorgeous 🤩 definnttelyy needs to be a colour like that to add character

Thanks for the feedback, we had something similar in mind. Would you suggest bringing the door out to the front? What about the windows either side, we would think about replacing maybe in a different colour, possibly grey, and add some cedar cladding to the house front and paint walls grey. We are also toying with the idea of bring double doors out to the front with arclight over head and then to add coving around the windows with arc that mirrors the arc light to try and soften the whole angular look to to the front. Window shopping and lots of online browsing.! .haven't purchased anything yet!. Just getting house back in order after painting! I have put back the red/winey curtains that I previously had up...convinces me more to go with a neutral colour. The walls are rich Taupe but with a slight grey hue off them so I think the bottom left above actually might work. I have bedding very similar so I took them out and held up and think it would look very nice. Purple isn't a theme in my house (although I do have one bedroom painted purple/lilac) My sitting room is white red black and silver and living/kitchen room is tan and red. I want a rug that wont show up the dirt that much...I live in the country side and have lots of dirty feet coming in so I cant go for any rug that is too light in colour

Matt finish walnut will show pretty much everything...the yellow 'doodle hair will show everytime it lands. The good news is everything is so dark you will only see half of the dog hair. A ligher floor in a dark home will have the same effect as a dark floor in a well lit home. You might want to look at a floor that is stained (like white or European Oak) with a mid-tone brown (2 steps lighter than walnut) and you will have your crisp definition between wood and wall AND you will have a floor that is more forgiving with 'doodle curls. And be aware that many people find a matt finishe VERY hard to live with. It shows every hand print, paw print, nose print, "skin" print you can imagine. Skin oils are SHINIER than a matt finish = shows up every time a finger, toe, foot, dog pad hits the floor. Everytime. A satin is easier to live with.

Hi Orla. I've looked at your ideabook and assume you're happy to stick with the monotone look? I'd look at papering the ŵall behind the bed in Cole and son library panel wallpaper in midnight (pic will follow but it would also look good in a light shade!). The rest of the walls I'd do in a pale but warm grey. Which way does the room face in terms of lights? Go for black bedside cabinets but maybe something with curved lines or round handles against the bed. Either glass bedside lamps with white shades or in a warm metal or pendants hung low over the bedsides, Stick to white bed linen but add a charcoal throw with lots of texture. Choose cushions with different texture and patterns from White through to charcoal. Depending on what flooring you have you could also add a grey textured rug under the bed. I'd go for plain pale-mid grey curtains. If you have the space/budget a patterned black/grey and white chair would look great. I think the key thing is texture for interest so maybe also a large antiqued mirror, a chandelier with a silk drum shade, white flowers etc.
