Hi There. I assume the door is opposite the window. also what appliances do you want in the kitchen. any preference for drawers or standard cupboards. Are you happy with a standard sink. do you want wall units or shelves. regards Stacey

Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately the door is not opposite the window. The door is 0.68m from the left wall ( as you look at the plan), standard door width. The window is 1.14m from the left wall and 0.5m from the right wall. All internal dimensions.

With regards to appliances, it needs a fridge freezer, washing machine and oven and hobs. Standard sink is fine. I thing maybe wall units would offer more storage in such a small kitchen but would be open to either as I do prefer the look of shelves.

Small kitchens need the best design to make the most from the space. I would consider playing with an L shaped kitchen rather than a U. I'd put the oven left of the door because this is the deeper side and means cook doesn't get bumped into as people walk in through the door. The corner then gives you lots of workspace but by then going straight into the wall, it creates more floor space for two people to work at once and less awkward corner storage.
This would give you a straight run of 2.2m for your fridge, washing machine and sink.
you could look at a slim storage or wall cupboard or shelves for additional storage (sourced differently from the kitchen would show your personality) on the right wall.

Thank you for the tips, lots of things to think about that I hadn’t before. We’re now wondering about making it L shaped but with a fridge freezer next to the doorway, separate to the L to give more workspace. Do you think that could work or best to keep it part of the L?

you'd only have 0.5m between the two which will be difficult to access inside a cupboard from so I'd keep the fridge as part of the L
