Thanks for the suggestions. We have considered moving the partition wall and have asked our architect to draw sketches of the same but he's not keen on the idea! Great suggestions so far - any further ideas much appreciated!

Can anyone help? I want to mount a 25kg mantel shelf (7 ft long) with 2 solid corbels (2 x 2.5kg). The depth of the shelf is 9" and the corbels approx 6". The shelf is 3.5" thick. The wall is exterior - plaster and studs then block. It's a modern wall with no fireplace. I'm worried i'm taking on too much with my limited skills. Thanks

There wasn't enough room behind dryer to vent dryer to external wall on right of image. Local carpenter suggested cutting into plasterboard and proceeded to notch and bore through studs to reach the outside. I'm not convinced it's a good idea even though he said its fine.

Thank you for this and for attaching the photo to demonstrate! Lovely idea and would be ideal in the room. I’m not sure what you mean by extending the curtains? I was wondering about adding a recessed curtain rail and having it in an L shape to fit the other window too. Or maybe curtains on the large window and a Roman blind on the smaller one?
