Comments (791)I've been thinking of you,Fragle - I remember those sleepless nights when the babies first came home and everyone was sleep deprived but life-as -always still had to go on, esp for Mommy. So happy for you that you have a 'good' baby, I love the name too:-)...See MoreGarden help
Comments (25)Hi lots of different options and ideas going on. I had a similar wall and understand how mean it can be to little ones. I bought and put up the expanding wood trellis. This instantly covered the area at a very reasonable price. I then planted quick growing climbing plants. I'm not a great gardener so I cant remember what i had but ask at the garden centre they will advise you. But at least you have a barrier in place to minimize accidents....See Morefireplace dilema
Comments (9)I must admit I don't like it either, sorry.. Given the resurgence of mid century design you can probably sell it (or store it for next owner). I'd ring a salvage yard or try ebay. I don't know a lot about the 50s but it would appear tiled fireplaces were the style (I thought there were a lot of brick ones but apparently not!) but most people removed or had no fireplace. If you want to retain character I would suggest getting a really contemporary one rather than a fireplace from another period but that may just be me! Lovely room though...See MoreKitchen layout/planning
Comments (4)I can perfectly understand that you don't want an additional door off the hall, and do you really want to approach the utility with washing etc, through a hall anyway? I just wonder why you want to make the door disappear, when its not on a wall with units? If it were, it might be easy to paint it/finish it similar to cabinets, but in the middle of the wall it will stand out anyway, whatever you do. To my mind, it might be better to just put an ordinary door in there, similar to other interior ones or glass paneled if you wan the light. If you are going to do it out with similar units to kitchen, it will flow in any case, if you can see them. Several friends have done this lately and it looks fine and the continuity through the glass paneled door just seems to make the kitchen appear even larger and lighter....See MoreRibena Drinker
