Bedroom colour scheme advice
Comments (9)Hi Louise, In a room like this I always like to keep the walls and ceilings ( including the small door and frame 1 colour...in this case a lavender. I'd start by finding colour chips that have the same colour as the carpet, and then go a few shades lighter but in the same tome. All baseboards and door to hall should be the same colour as the iron beds...off white. With the walls a colour you'll be able to see the pretty pattern of the frame. OR find a small scaled pattern of any of the shades of purple and the cream same as the bed frame) with the same fabric. Make custom bedding to match. In a small room 1 pattern works well everywhere. If you go the paint route, try to find fabric with soft gold, lavender, purple for a skirted table between the beds if there's room. You can put it on a cardboard table and base...found in some fabric or craft stores. Top it with a thin piece of glass ( Pier 1) and away you go.Don't be afraid of colour or small pattern in a small space, as you are going for the impact. Have fun! Comments (23)Adding width BEHIND THE BED - with a headboard (which doesn't have to be a "headboard"; it could be fabric, collection of mirrors, collection of pictures, a farm gate!, small chairs or stools) across the entire width. Matching bedside tables/bookcases/chests/ with LAMPS - useful storage for extra books, extra bedding, etc. CURTAINS always warm up a room. People will always feel colder away from home - provide an extra blanket or duvet to add to the bed. I notice there is no WARDROBE. Not really necessary for overnight guests (provide hooks on the back of the door) but useful for storing your out-of-season coats, etc. There is plenty of room behind the door. Buy one on eBay and paint it to suit your colour scheme....See MoreHelp me put sparkle into bedroom
Comments (1)http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gorgeous-Bespoke-Light-Grey-Velvet-Double-Ended-Chaise-Sofa-HAND-MADE-IN-UK-/121708806362 Hi. The title of your post made me laugh! You have some great pieces in the room. Are the walls elephants breath and the blind taupe? If so, I would add a taupe bed throw. Kelly hoppen has a few good ones on her website but I can't save the images. A velvet bolster cushion would also look great on the bed. I would add either a bed end stool or chaise sofa at the end of the bed. I've attached a link to one on ebay as it seemed very reasonable and you can change the leg colour. I'd go for plain grey silk curtains, next have some silvery grey one in their ready made range which seem reasonable ( apologies as you've painted but I'd hang the curtain rail higher as it will make the room taller). I'd add matching bedside lamps. A roundish decorative silver mirror over the middle of the headboard would look great. I'd also move the chest to the tv ŵall. I personally would just add art to the right hand ŵall if you're laying in bed, maybe some of the black and white Getty images from John lewis? I'd go for the more girlie ones. They're not particularly cheap but you can always buy the prints and have framed separately. Would love to see the room completely finished as it looks great already...See MoreHelp with bedroom colour
Comments (12)Hi. I'm not that keen on the paper with the rest of the room, it doesn't look bad at all but it doesn't look stunning either imo. Everything else looks to be more of a greige? I'd look at the same paper in truffle, sable, dark linen or even the pewter may work ( hard to tell colours on screen so would get samples of all!). I agree with the others, would go for plain bed linen and add pattern in cushions and/ or throw. It looks as if a chalk pink would work best with the greige. Maybe a chalky white for the remaining furniture. You could also break up the window ŵall by adding a trim and maybe Pom poms to the bottom of the blind. A little antique gold for accessories, lights etc would also work well....See MoreJules Mc
