I'm sure the duck egg, grey and pale pink should work together but I think the duvet cover is clashing with the paper...it could just be the patterns that are fighting eachother. Are you keeping the duvet cover? If not maybe go for white bed linen, maybe pink bottom sheets and housewife pillowcases with a delicate pink throw. I love white bedlinen though :)

I think you need to bring in the duck egg elsewhere other than the feature wall to tie it all together.

Not sure the wall colour on the left goes with the paper but tricky to see. Bed frame goes with the paper. Loose the pink bedding & go for grey or duck egg blue or as above bit fan of plain white bedding & add a throw in grey or duck egg at the end etc.

What color is your bedding? Use that to guide you unless you're getting new bedding. A rug or picture is also a good place to pull colors from. If you post some pictures of the room you'll get more response.

Adding width BEHIND THE BED - with a headboard (which doesn't have to be a "headboard"; it could be fabric, collection of mirrors, collection of pictures, a farm gate!, small chairs or stools) across the entire width. Matching bedside tables/bookcases/chests/ with LAMPS - useful storage for extra books, extra bedding, etc. CURTAINS always warm up a room. People will always feel colder away from home - provide an extra blanket or duvet to add to the bed. I notice there is no WARDROBE. Not really necessary for overnight guests (provide hooks on the back of the door) but useful for storing your out-of-season coats, etc. There is plenty of room behind the door. Buy one on eBay and paint it to suit your colour scheme.

Thank you guys. I went to the carpet showroom today and the guy there was not very helpful. Just threw a few books at me. So I am none the wiser really. But there would not be as much selection here in Ireland as what you would have in the states. I won't give up though, I saw a few ones with speckles on it and they were nice but I think I will hold out for the pattern ones if I see them. Maybe what I want is not out there..... Wont see any dirt, only have to Hoover once a week, no foot marks and light in color ??

Hi. I'm not that keen on the paper with the rest of the room, it doesn't look bad at all but it doesn't look stunning either imo. Everything else looks to be more of a greige? I'd look at the same paper in truffle, sable, dark linen or even the pewter may work ( hard to tell colours on screen so would get samples of all!). I agree with the others, would go for plain bed linen and add pattern in cushions and/ or throw. It looks as if a chalk pink would work best with the greige. Maybe a chalky white for the remaining furniture. You could also break up the window ŵall by adding a trim and maybe Pom poms to the bottom of the blind. A little antique gold for accessories, lights etc would also work well.

Thanks for all of all of the comments so far! I should have mentioned that the bedding is only temporary - I have crisp white bedding for the room....also the photos were taken at night time, so the wall colour is probably appearing darker than it really is (I will try to take a picture in daylight over the weekend).

In terms of bedside tables, I was thinking of white tables similar to these http://www.ikea.com/ie/en/products/tables-desks/bedside-tables/hemnes-bedside-table-white-art-70121230/ Do you think that white is a good colour (I love the grey/greige, but I'm wary of it all being the one colour!)

I would stick with the walls either side of the bed, plough on with the wallpaper - it is fine! Then once you have put on new bedding it will make a big difference - cushions on the bed/ duck egg Pom Pom trim added to the blind/ a little bear sat on the bed wearing a duck egg ribbon or cravat and it will look lovely.... Just needs a few accessories once decorated and it will be a lovely room X

I agree with sherbet b. it's amazing how a scheme will look disjointed until you have all the components in
place....sometimes it's the last item that draws it all together. All your choices are lovely and will make for a tranquil bedroom ( so glad you have gone for white bed linen , can't beat it ) . When the decorating is finished you can stand back and play with accessory colours .....you'll know when you've got it right .

The damask wallpaper is beautiful. It will go well with the white bed. Introduce a contrast with a bed runner in a darker color like a warm pink to add romance to the bedroom. Curtains in a shimmery silver would also complement the color I think. I went for black but the room a little masculine a splash of pink would add the romance missing in it. Good luck with the decorating!

I had that wallpaper on the chimney-breast in my bedroom until very recently and I think it will work very well in your guest room. It was not only beautiful but also surprisingly adaptable, the room went from predominantly duck egg and pale pink to grey and some shocking pink without it looking out of place! Sadly a leaking roof meant it had to go and I never decorate the same way twice - too many ideas and too few rooms to try them in :D

Thanks everyone for your ideas and suggestions - I decided to continue with the wallpaper, and I'm delighted to report that it looks really well so far! It's a pretty dull day, so the colours aren't showing very well in the pictures below, but hopefully you get the idea!

I agree with the comments about bringing the duck egg blue into other areas of the room......I'm thinking of getting plain duck egg blue curtains - thoughts? And also, I'll get a blue throw for the end of the bed to tie it all together,

Hi Orlac! Am posting a pic of my guest room I was playing about with yesterday! Just add a couple of cushions on the bed and a throw and if possible bedside light (s) and it will really be a lovely room. Just want to say that I love white bedding and only have white in every room - some weeks ago the accent colour for all the accessories in this room in pic was aubergine - without decorating at all I have changed the look completely due to neutral walls and white linen.
