@Jayme Hobbs .. thanks a mil Jayme I had been looking at a light grey colour but was afraid it might end up looking just whitewashed but I love the wall paint in the pic. @eagledzines.. I've attached the closeup of the counter, will look into changing the handles just to give the cabinets a lift. @Dannielle Lyn... I personally like the kitchen, kind of a Scandinavian modern look. leave the skirts, doors and trims as is. Paint wise, I am going to invite you to a kitchen gallery that I think works well with the existing aesthetic you have now. I like the "Melrose Kitchen" in this instance, as an example of wall color. The trim is painted here, but leaving yours as is, I believe, would be fine! Happy Houzzing.

The red carpet and drapery are bringing darkness to your entry. The horizontal curtain rod cuts the space as well. Do you know if you have hardwood beneath the carpet? Is there electrical under the staircase where you could do a console table, to scale w/ the staircase and place a lamp or two upon it and hang another mirror (to scale) to reflect more light. Would love to see an exterior picture of the entry. Is the door window combination original to the home? Is it in the budget to change this as well? If not, removing the curtains and placing a large potted plant would help to brighten up the space.
