Paint Renovating Flooring

Painting staircases

Hi

We are renovating a 1950’s semi and have an engineered oak floor downstairs and will have carpet upstairs. I am thinking about painting the stairs but I’m worried about them being slippy - we have small children. Can anyone with painted stairs let me know if you find them slippery and also any tips on paint to use - experience with non slip floor paint - does it feel rough?

yep very slippery in my personal experience. The paint also doesn't last long but painted stairs do look nice. Anti slip paint will look a bit rough but is a good alternative. Best solution is either a runner or you can eve try with adhesive transparent anti slip strips

I personally like the kitchen, kind of a Scandinavian modern look. leave the skirts, doors and trims as is. Paint wise, I am going to invite you to a kitchen gallery that I think works well with the existing aesthetic you have now. I like the "Melrose Kitchen" in this instance, as an example of wall color. The trim is painted here, but leaving yours as is, I believe, would be fine! Happy Houzzing.

i also wouldnt be too happy with this design, ist very boring, all Brown and tan... so. get some nice blues and teals for throws and cushions, maybe with bit of yellow in it a round or oval coffee glass table would work much better here and reflect more light, adding teal accents - vases, and Greens- artificial plants etc. rugs - some ideas - , get colourful deco accents on your fireplace mantel as well, no more tan ;) i love your clock, but i dont think this is the best place for it, i think a big nice artwork with some Pop would work much better here - clock could go to Foyer, staircase wall etc. artwork - good luck, hope that helped a bit.

Hi houzzers we are thinking of painting/staining our staircase. Because it’s a dog leg design I’m not sure what will suit I like the wood and painted affect but I don’t want it to look too much at the same time! any ideas?
